Chickenpox Vaccine

Marks Tey Pharmacy

Chickenpox (varicella) is a common viral infection that usually causes an itchy rash and fever. While often mild in young children, it can be more severe in older children, teenagers and adults, with a higher risk of complications.

The NHS now routinely offers the combined MMRV vaccine (measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox) to children as part of the national childhood vaccination programme.
This private service is available for children and adults who are not immune, or who are not eligible for, or have not yet received, vaccination under the NHS schedule.

Who this service is for

This private vaccination service may be suitable if you or your child:

  • Have never had chickenpox

  • Have not completed a chickenpox vaccination course

  • Are not eligible for NHS vaccination, or missed it

  • Are at increased risk of exposure (e.g. household contacts, healthcare workers)

Available from 12 months of age, subject to clinical assessment.

If your child is eligible for routine NHS MMRV vaccination, we recommend accessing this through your GP where possible.
