£81.65
In stock

Coloplast Assura® 2766 is a two-piece closed colostomy pouch with a Midi pouch size, opaque covering and 60mm mechanical coupling, designed primarily for people with a colostomy producing formed or relatively predictable output.

The pouch is designed for use with a compatible 60mm Assura® baseplate, which is purchased separately. The baseplate remains attached around the stoma while the closed pouch can be removed and replaced independently.

The Assura® mechanical coupling provides a secure connection between the pouch and baseplate, while the integrated filter helps manage gas and odour. The opaque pouch covering conceals the contents for greater discretion.

  • Users who prefer an opaque pouch for greater discretion

  • People who want to change the pouch independently of the adhesive baseplate

Two-piece system

Assura® 2766 forms part of a two-piece ostomy system.

The complete appliance consists of:

  • A separate adhesive baseplate

  • A removable closed pouch

The baseplate adheres to the skin around the stoma while the pouch attaches to it using a mechanical coupling.

Unlike a one-piece appliance, the pouch can therefore be removed without automatically removing the adhesive baseplate.

This can be useful where:

  • Closed pouches are changed several times between baseplate changes

  • Reducing repeated adhesive removal from the skin is desirable

  • The user prefers a modular pouch and baseplate system

  • Different compatible pouches need to be used with the same baseplate

The baseplate is not included with this product and must be purchased separately if required.

60mm coupling size

The 60mm measurement refers to the coupling size between the pouch and Assura® baseplate.

It does not mean that the stoma itself must measure 60mm.

Reference 2766 must be connected to a compatible 60mm Assura® baseplate.

The actual opening around the stoma is determined separately by the selected baseplate.

For example, an Assura® 60mm baseplate may provide a cut-to-fit opening for a range of stoma sizes while still using a 60mm external pouch coupling.

Always match:

  • 60mm pouch coupling

  • With a 60mm Assura® baseplate coupling

A 60mm pouch should not be connected to a 40mm or 50mm Assura® baseplate.

Midi pouch size

Reference 2766 is the Midi version.

Midi provides a balance between:

  • Collection capacity

  • Discretion

  • Comfort

  • Frequency of pouch changes

It provides greater capacity than a Mini pouch while remaining more compact than a Maxi pouch.

The appropriate pouch size depends on individual stoma output, lifestyle and personal preference.

Closed pouch

Assura® 2766 is a closed pouch.

It does not have a drainable outlet.

When the pouch contains sufficient output to require changing, it is detached from the baseplate and replaced with a new pouch.

Closed pouches are generally most appropriate where output is:

  • Formed

  • Semi-formed

  • Relatively predictable

  • Produced at manageable intervals

They are therefore primarily designed for colostomy.

For frequent liquid or semi-liquid output, such as typical ileostomy output, a drainable pouch is generally more practical.

Mechanical coupling

The Assura® two-piece system uses a mechanical coupling between the pouch and baseplate.

The pouch is positioned over the compatible coupling ring and secured into place.

The coupling allows the pouch to:

  • Be attached securely to the baseplate

  • Be removed without removing the adhesive barrier

  • Be replaced independently

  • Be positioned appropriately before use

After attaching the pouch, check around the entire coupling to ensure it is fully and evenly engaged.

Integrated filter

The pouch incorporates an integrated filter.

Gas naturally produced by the bowel can accumulate inside a closed colostomy pouch and cause the pouch to inflate or balloon.

The filter is designed to:

  • Allow gas to escape gradually

  • Help reduce pouch ballooning

  • Help filter odour

  • Maintain a flatter pouch profile

  • Improve discretion during wear

Do not puncture, cut or otherwise modify the filter.

Opaque pouch

Reference 2766 is the Opaque version.

The opaque covering conceals the stoma output and pouch contents during normal wear.

This provides greater discretion than a clear pouch and can make the appliance less noticeable underneath clothing.

The soft covering also provides a more comfortable surface against the body than exposed pouch film.

Choosing the correct baseplate

Reference 2766 is the pouch only.

A compatible 60mm Assura® baseplate must be selected separately.

Baseplate selection depends on factors including:

  • Stoma diameter

  • Stoma shape

  • Abdominal contours

  • Peristomal skin condition

  • Required cut-to-fit or pre-cut opening

  • Whether a flat or convex solution is required

The opening in the baseplate should fit closely around the stoma without rubbing against or constricting it.

An opening that is too large can expose the surrounding skin to stoma output and increase the risk of leakage or irritation.

An opening that is too small may rub against or constrict the stoma.

Flat or convex baseplate?

The pouch itself does not determine whether the appliance is flat or convex.

This depends on the compatible Assura® baseplate selected.

A flat baseplate may be suitable where the stoma protrudes sufficiently and the surrounding abdominal surface provides an appropriate sealing area.

Convexity may be considered where the stoma is:

  • Flush with the skin

  • Retracted

  • Located within a dip

  • Situated within folds or uneven contours

  • Associated with recurrent leakage when using a flat appliance

Convexity should be selected following an appropriate stoma assessment.

Attaching the pouch:

Ensure the compatible 60mm Assura® baseplate has been correctly applied.

Check that the baseplate coupling ring is clean and unobstructed.

Position the pouch over the 60mm coupling.

Attach the pouch according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Check around the complete circumference of the coupling.

Make sure the pouch is fully and securely attached before repositioning clothing.

Changing the pouch:

Because this is a closed pouch, it is replaced rather than emptied.

Wash and dry your hands.

Detach the used pouch from the baseplate according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Dispose of the used pouch appropriately.

Inspect the existing baseplate.

Check for:

  • Leakage

  • Lifting around the edges

  • Output beneath the adhesive

  • Damage to the baseplate

  • Deterioration of the seal

If the baseplate remains secure and appropriate to continue using, attach a new compatible 60mm Assura® pouch.

If leakage or adhesive failure is present, change the baseplate as well.

Changing the baseplate:

The Assura® baseplate should be replaced according to the manufacturer's instructions and the individual's established stoma-care routine.

Replace the baseplate sooner if:

  • Leakage occurs

  • The adhesive begins to lift

  • Output reaches beneath the adhesive

  • The skin becomes sore

  • The baseplate becomes damaged

  • The appliance no longer feels secure

Persistent leakage should prompt reassessment of the baseplate opening and overall appliance fit rather than simply replacing the pouch more frequently.

  • Stoma output beneath the adhesive may cause peristomal skin irritation

  • Check the skin for redness, soreness or breakdown

  • Persistent leakage may indicate that the baseplate opening, profile or appliance fit requires reassessment

  • Convexity should be selected following appropriate stoma assessment

  • Seek advice from a Stoma Care Nurse for recurrent leakage, persistent skin problems or uncertainty regarding appliance selection

  • Significant changes in stoma colour, marked swelling, severe abdominal pain or other concerning symptoms require appropriate clinical assessment

  • Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for use
