Coloplast Assura® 2795 is a two-piece drainable ileostomy pouch with a Maxi pouch size, clear construction and 50mm mechanical coupling, designed for people with an ileostomy or another stoma producing liquid or semi-liquid output.

The pouch connects to a separate compatible 50mm Assura® baseplate, allowing the adhesive baseplate to remain attached around the stoma while the pouch can be removed, repositioned or replaced independently.

The Assura® mechanical coupling provides a secure pouch-to-baseplate connection. An audible click helps confirm that the pouch is correctly locked into position, while the pouch can be rotated before locking to achieve the preferred orientation.

The drainable outlet allows the pouch to be emptied repeatedly throughout the day, while the clear design provides visibility of the stoma and pouch contents.

Two-piece system

Assura® 2795 forms part of a two-piece ostomy system.

The complete system consists of:

• A separate adhesive baseplate

• A removable drainable pouch

The baseplate adheres around the stoma while the pouch connects mechanically to it.

Unlike a one-piece appliance, the pouch can therefore be removed without automatically removing the adhesive from the skin.

This allows the pouch to be:

• Changed independently

• Repositioned when required

• Emptied while attached

• Replaced more frequently than the baseplate if necessary

The baseplate is not included and must be purchased separately if required.

50mm coupling size

The 50mm measurement refers to the mechanical coupling between the pouch and Assura® baseplate.

It does not mean that the stoma itself measures 50mm.

Reference 2795 must be paired with a compatible 50mm Assura® baseplate.

The actual opening around the stoma is determined by the baseplate selected.

A 50mm baseplate coupling may therefore contain a considerably smaller cut-to-fit or pre-cut stoma opening.

Always match:

• 50mm pouch coupling

• With a 50mm Assura® baseplate coupling

A 50mm pouch cannot be securely connected to a 40mm or 60mm Assura® baseplate.

Mechanical coupling

Assura® uses a mechanical coupling system to connect the pouch and baseplate.

The pouch is positioned over the coupling ring and locked securely into place.

An audible click provides reassurance that the pouch has been correctly attached.

Before locking, the pouch can be rotated into the preferred position without removing it from the baseplate.

This allows convenient positioning for:

• Standing

• Sitting

• Lying down

• Emptying the pouch

• Different clothing arrangements

After attaching the pouch, check around the complete circumference of the coupling to ensure it is fully engaged.

Maxi pouch

Reference 2795 is the Maxi version.

The larger pouch capacity is particularly useful for ileostomy because output can be relatively frequent and liquid.

A Maxi pouch provides greater collection capacity while still allowing the pouch to be emptied whenever required.

The pouch should nevertheless be emptied before becoming excessively full or heavy.

Regular emptying helps:

• Reduce weight pulling on the baseplate

• Reduce pressure on the coupling

• Improve comfort

• Maintain a flatter pouch profile

• Reduce the risk of leakage associated with excessive pouch weight

Drainable ileostomy pouch

Assura® 2795 is a drainable/open pouch.

This makes it particularly suitable for ileostomy output, which is generally more liquid or semi-liquid than typical colostomy output.

Rather than replacing the pouch each time it fills, the contents can be drained through the outlet and the pouch can continue to be used according to the manufacturer's instructions and the individual's normal stoma-care routine.

Self-adhesive soft closing clip

The drainage outlet is secured using Coloplast's self-adhesive soft closing clip.

The closure is designed to be:

• Secure

• Straightforward to operate

• Easy to clean

• Soft against the body

After emptying:

• Clean the outlet as required

• Fold the outlet correctly

• Secure it with the closing clip

• Check that the outlet is completely closed

This is the traditional Assura® closure system and should not be confused with the Hide-Away outlet used on some newer Coloplast pouch ranges.

Clear pouch

Reference 2795 is the Clear version.

The transparent pouch allows visibility of:

• The stoma

• Stoma output

• Output consistency

• Pouch contents

• Appliance positioning

This can be useful:

• Following surgery

• When monitoring the stoma

• When assessing changes in output

• Where a carer assists with pouch management

• Where a transparent pouch is preferred

Soft body-facing backing

The side of the pouch that sits against the body incorporates soft backing fabric.

This provides a softer interface between the pouch and the skin than exposed pouch film.

The material is designed to:

• Improve comfort

• Allow the skin to breathe

• Reduce pouch noise

• Dry quickly following showering or swimming

Because this is the clear version, the outward-facing side remains transparent.

Odour-proof pouch film

The pouch is manufactured from odour-proof material designed to contain odour from stoma output while the pouch remains intact and correctly closed.

Replace the pouch if it becomes damaged or if the drainage closure no longer seals securely.

Choosing the correct baseplate

Reference 2795 is the pouch only.

A compatible 50mm Assura® baseplate must be selected separately.

Baseplate choice depends on:

• Stoma diameter

• Stoma shape

• Peristomal skin condition

• Abdominal contours

• Required pre-cut or cut-to-fit opening

• Standard or extended-wear adhesive requirements

• Whether flat or convex support is needed

The baseplate opening should fit closely around the stoma without touching or constricting it.

This is particularly important with ileostomy output because prolonged contact with exposed skin can rapidly cause irritation.

Flat or convex baseplate?

The pouch itself does not provide convexity.

The complete appliance profile depends on the Assura® baseplate selected.

A flat baseplate may be appropriate where the stoma protrudes adequately and the surrounding skin provides a suitable sealing surface.

Convexity may be considered where the stoma is:

• Flush with the skin

• Retracted

• Located within a dip

• Situated within folds or uneven contours

• Associated with recurrent leakage using a flat appliance

Convexity should be selected following appropriate stoma assessment.

Attaching the pouch:

Ensure the compatible 50mm Assura® baseplate has been correctly applied.

Check that the coupling ring is clean.

Position the pouch over the coupling.

Rotate the pouch into the preferred position if required.

Lock the pouch according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Listen for the audible click confirming secure attachment.

Check around the complete circumference of the coupling.

Gently confirm that the pouch is securely attached before repositioning clothing.

Emptying the pouch:

Empty the pouch before it becomes excessively full or heavy.

Position the outlet over a toilet or suitable receptacle.

Release the self-adhesive soft closing clip.

Open the drainage outlet.

Allow the pouch contents to drain.

Clean the end of the outlet as required.

Fold the outlet correctly.

Secure it using the closing clip.

Check that the outlet is fully closed before repositioning clothing.

Changing the pouch:

The pouch can be removed independently while the adhesive baseplate remains attached.

Wash and dry your hands.

Release the mechanical coupling according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Carefully remove the pouch.

Check the existing baseplate for:

• Leakage

• Lifting

• Output beneath the adhesive

• Damage

• Deterioration of the seal

If the baseplate remains secure and appropriate to continue using, attach a new compatible 50mm Assura® pouch.

If leakage or adhesive failure is present, replace the baseplate as well.

• Significant changes in stoma colour, severe abdominal pain, marked swelling, persistent vomiting or unexpected cessation of ileostomy output with symptoms of obstruction require appropriate clinical assessment
