Coloplast SenSura® Mio High Output Pouches are high-capacity drainable ileostomy appliances designed for people with higher-volume liquid or semi-liquid stoma output.

This range provides additional pouch capacity compared with conventional ileostomy pouches and incorporates outlets designed for effective drainage. Depending on the selected option, the pouch is available either as a complete 1-piece appliance with an integrated adhesive baseplate or as a SenSura® Mio Click 2-piece pouch for use with a separate compatible baseplate.

The options available in this listing range from 546ml to 1080ml capacity and include Neutral Grey and Transparent pouches, wide and soft outlets, and either a 60mm Mio Click mechanical coupling or a 10–100mm cut-to-fit 1-piece baseplate.

What is a High Output pouch?

A high-output pouch is designed to manage larger volumes of stoma output than a conventional-size ileostomy pouch.

This may be particularly useful where output is:

• High in volume

• Very liquid

• Frequent

• Difficult to manage with a standard-capacity pouch

The larger capacity can reduce the frequency with which the pouch needs to be emptied, although it should still be emptied before becoming excessively full or heavy.

A high-output pouch can also be useful in appropriate post-operative situations where stoma output needs to be collected and monitored efficiently.

1-piece or 2-piece?

This product listing contains both types, so it is important to select the correct system.

1-Piece – Ref 18661

Reference 18661 is a complete one-piece appliance.

The pouch and adhesive baseplate are permanently joined.

It has:

When changing the appliance, the pouch and adhesive baseplate are removed together.

No separate baseplate is required.

2-Piece Mio Click – Refs 18602, 18612, 18622 and 18631

These references are pouches only.

They connect mechanically to a separate compatible 60mm SenSura® Mio Click baseplate.

The pouch can therefore be removed or changed while the adhesive baseplate remains attached, where appropriate.

A baseplate is not included with these 2-piece pouch options.

60mm coupling does not mean 60mm stoma size

the 60mm measurement refers to the mechanical coupling between the pouch and SenSura® Mio Click baseplate.

It does not mean that the stoma itself measures 60mm.

These pouches must be used with a compatible:

SenSura® Mio Click 60mm baseplate

The opening around the actual stoma is determined by the baseplate selected.

Always ensure that the pouch and baseplate have the same coupling size.

Mio Click mechanical coupling

SenSura® Mio Click uses a secure mechanical coupling between the pouch and baseplate.

The two-piece design allows the pouch to be changed separately from the adhesive baseplate.

This can be useful where:

• Frequent pouch changes are required

• The adhesive can appropriately remain in place longer

• A modular appliance system is preferred

• High-volume output requires flexible pouch management

Always check that the pouch is securely attached to the compatible baseplate before use.

High pouch capacity

The options in this listing provide different capacities.

546ml – Ref 18622

The smaller Mini High Output option.

Despite being part of the High Output range, this pouch is considerably smaller than the XXXL variants and may be useful where the special High Output outlet and pouch design are required without the maximum capacity.

725ml – Ref 18661

The 1-piece XL option provides increased capacity together with a very large 10–100mm cut-to-fit baseplate range.

1080ml – Refs 18602, 18612 and 18631

These XXXL pouches provide substantially greater capacity and are intended where higher-volume output requires a larger collection pouch.

The appropriate size should be selected according to:

Wide outlet

References 18602, 18612 and 18622 use a wide drainage outlet.

The wide outlet is designed to allow efficient drainage of high-volume and thicker ileostomy output.

Always ensure the selected outlet is completely closed following emptying.

Full-circle filter

SenSura® Mio High Output incorporates a full-circle filtration system designed specifically to help manage ileostomy gas.

The filter helps:

• Allow intestinal gas to leave the pouch

• Filter odour

• Reduce pouch ballooning

• Maintain a flatter pouch profile

• Improve discretion

The surrounding pre-filter helps protect the filter from liquid stoma output.

This is particularly important with ileostomy appliances because liquid output can interfere with conventional pouch filters.

BodyFit Technology®

SenSura® Mio incorporates Coloplast's BodyFit Technology® within its adhesive baseplate systems.

The elastic adhesive is designed to follow individual body contours and move with the abdomen.

This helps the appliance adapt during:

For 18661, the BodyFit adhesive is integrated directly into the one-piece appliance.

SenSura® Mio's textile covering is designed to look and feel more like clothing fabric than conventional medical pouch material.

Reference 18612 is Transparent and includes a measuring scale.

The transparent design allows direct visibility of:

Connection to additional drainage

SenSura® Mio High Output products are designed with effective drainage in mind, and compatible configurations can be connected to an appropriate additional drainage or night bag.

This can provide increased capacity where required.

When using an additional drainage system:

• Use the correct compatible connector

• Ensure connections are secure

• Position the drainage bag appropriately

• Keep tubing free from kinks

• Avoid excessive pulling on the pouch

• Ensure output can flow freely

• Follow Coloplast's instructions for the exact products being connected

Compatibility should always be checked for the individual High Output reference and drainage system.

Ref 18661 – 10–100mm cut-to-fit

Reference 18661 is significantly different from the other four options because it is a 1-piece appliance rather than a detachable pouch.

It has a particularly wide cutting range of:

10–100mm

The opening can be prepared to fit the measured stoma within the manufacturer's permitted range.

This may be especially useful:

• For larger stomas

• Post-operatively

• Where stoma size is changing

• Where an irregular stoma shape requires an individually prepared opening

The finished opening should:

• Fit closely around the stoma

• Avoid rubbing against it

• Avoid constricting it

• Minimise exposed peristomal skin

• Follow the shape of the stoma where necessary

Do not cut beyond the manufacturer's stated 100mm maximum.

Choosing between the five options

18602

Choose where a 60mm Mio Click 2-piece system, Neutral Grey pouch, wide outlet and large 1080ml capacity are required.

18612

Choose where the same 60mm Mio Click / 1080ml / wide-outlet configuration is required but a Transparent pouch with measuring scale is preferred.

18622

Choose where a 60mm Mio Click system and wide outlet are required but a considerably smaller 546ml Mini pouch is preferred.

18631

Choose where a 60mm Mio Click system and 1080ml capacity are required with a soft outlet rather than the wide outlet.

18661

Choose where a complete 1-piece flat appliance is required, with a large 10–100mm cut-to-fit opening, 725ml capacity and soft outlet.

Emptying the pouch:

Empty the pouch before it becomes excessively full or heavy.

Position the drainage outlet over a toilet or suitable receptacle.

Open the outlet according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Allow the pouch contents to drain completely.

Clean the outlet as required.

Close the outlet securely.

Check that it is completely closed before repositioning clothing.

With high-volume output, regular emptying is particularly important because excessive pouch weight can:

• Pull on the adhesive

• Place pressure on a two-piece coupling

• Reduce comfort
