Coloplast SenSura® Soft Seal 1-Piece Drainable Pouches are convex ileostomy appliances designed for stomas that require moderate support to protrude and for dipped peristomal areas where a light convex curve can help establish secure contact with the skin.

The pouch and adhesive baseplate are permanently joined to form a complete one-piece appliance. The integrated light convexity provides controlled support around the stoma, while the SenSura® Soft Seal adhesive incorporates separate protection and skin-care functions designed to protect the peristomal skin and absorb excess moisture.

Drainable ileostomy pouch

Choosing the correct opening

Measure the stoma carefully using an appropriate measuring guide.

The finished opening should:

• Fit closely around the stoma

• Avoid rubbing against it

• Avoid constricting it

• Minimise exposed peristomal skin

• Follow the actual stoma shape where required

This is especially important with ileostomy output because digestive enzymes in the output can cause significant skin irritation when exposed skin is repeatedly contacted.

An opening that is too large may:

Applying the appliance:

Wash and dry your hands.

Measure the stoma where required.

Select the appropriate pouch size and opening range.

Prepare the opening according to the manufacturer's cutting guide if using a cut-to-fit appliance.

Ensure the Hide-Away outlet is completely closed.

Gently remove the existing appliance while supporting the surrounding skin.

Clean the peristomal area according to the normal stoma-care routine.

Ensure the skin is appropriately clean and dry.

Remove the protective backing from the adhesive.

Centre the prepared opening carefully over the stoma.

Apply the convex adhesive around the stoma.

Press gently but firmly to establish secure contact.

Smooth the adhesive outward.

Emptying the pouch:
