  • Superabsorbent dressings with a high-capacity absorbent core made from cellulose and superabsorbent polymers (e.g., sodium polyacrylate). These polymers can absorb many times their own weight in fluid and retain it, reducing the risk of fluid leakage and maceration.

  • Available in different versions:

    • Non-adhesive primary dressings

    • Self-adhesive versions, e.g., Vliwasorb adhesive 15 x 15 cm, with a skin-friendly adhesive membrane that secures the dressing without extra fixation.

    • Sensitive versions with a gentle silicone contact layer, e.g., Vliwasorb sensitive Absorbent Compresses 7.5 x 7.5 cm.

Key Features

  • High absorption & retention: Core absorbs large volumes of exudate and retains it, protecting peri-wound skin from maceration and reducing dressing change frequency.

  • Moist wound environment: Helps support the wound’s natural healing process by maintaining appropriate moisture.

  • Comfortable & flexible: Thin, flexible dressings that can conform to wound sites and provide cushioning.

  • Optional self-adhesion: Adhesive versions have a breathable, elastic membrane that sticks without separate bandaging.

  • Protection layers: Some variants include clothing protection and barriers against liquids and bacteria.

Typical Clinical Use

Vliwasorb dressings are indicated when wounds produce moderate to heavy exudate, such as:

  • Venous or arterial leg ulcers

  • Pressure ulcers

  • Diabetic foot ulcers

  • Post-operative wounds healing by secondary intention

  • Traumatic wounds and burns (exudative phase)
These dressings help manage fluid levels while protecting surrounding skin and promoting a moist healing environment.
