Ferrous Fumarate 305mg Capsules are an iron medicine used to treat and prevent iron-deficiency anaemia. Each capsule provides 305mg ferrous fumarate, equivalent to 100mg elemental iron.

Active ingredient:
Each capsule contains:
- Ferrous Fumarate: 305mg
- Equivalent to Elemental Iron: 100mg
How to take:
Adults and children over 12 years:
- Prevention of iron deficiency: Take 1 capsule once daily.
- Treatment of iron-deficiency anaemia: Take 1 capsule twice daily.
Swallow the capsule with water. Iron is generally absorbed best on an empty stomach, but if it causes stomach upset it may be taken after food.
Avoid taking the capsule at the same time as tea, coffee, milk, calcium supplements or antacids, as these may reduce iron absorption.
Important information:
Do not give to children under 12 years unless advised by a doctor.
Do not take this medicine if you have an iron-storage disorder such as haemochromatosis, anaemia not caused by iron deficiency, an active stomach ulcer, or if you are receiving iron injections.
Iron can interact with several medicines, including some antibiotics, levothyroxine, bisphosphonates and certain Parkinson's medicines. Speak to your pharmacist if you take other medicines.
Common side effects can include nausea, stomach discomfort, constipation, diarrhoea and dark stools.
Important: This medicine contains iron. Keep out of the sight and reach of children, as an overdose may be fatal.
