Peak Flow Meter
The Peak Flow Meter is a portable device used to measure peak expiratory flow (PEF), helping people with asthma and other respiratory conditions monitor how well air is moving out of their lungs.
Key features:
- Measures peak expiratory flow (PEF)
- Helps monitor asthma and changes in airway function
- Pocket-sized, lightweight and portable
- Suitable for adults and children
- Individually calibrated for accuracy and reliability
- Adjustable zoning system supports personalised asthma monitoring
- Easy-to-read measurement scale
- Integrated handle for comfortable use
- Suitable for home monitoring
- Available with ATS or EU measurement scales
Measurement range:
- EU Scale: 60–800 L/min
- ATS Scale: 60–720 L/min
How to use:
Move the indicator to the lowest position on the scale.
Stand or sit upright and hold the peak flow meter horizontally, making sure your fingers do not obstruct the scale or indicator.
Take the deepest breath you can, place your lips firmly around the mouthpiece and blow out as hard and as fast as possible.
Note the reading and reset the indicator. Repeat the test two more times and record the highest of the three readings.
For asthma monitoring, follow your personalised asthma action plan or the instructions provided by your doctor, nurse or pharmacist.
Important information:
Peak flow readings vary between individuals according to factors such as age, height and lung function. Your personal best reading and changes from your usual readings are generally more useful than comparing your result with another person's.
Use the same peak flow meter and measurement scale consistently when monitoring your condition.
If your peak flow is significantly lower than usual, or you develop worsening wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness or other concerning symptoms, follow your asthma action plan and seek appropriate medical advice.
Device type: Peak Expiratory Flow Meter
Available scales: EU / ATS
Pack size: 1 device
Always read the instructions before use.
