Mini-Wright Peak Flow
The Mini-Wright Standard Peak Flow Meter is a lightweight, portable device used to measure peak expiratory flow (PEF). Regular peak flow monitoring can help people with asthma track changes in their airway function and identify when their breathing may be worsening. The standard Mini-Wright measures peak flow from approximately 60–880 litres per minute.

How to use:
Move the pointer to the lowest position on the scale.
Sit or stand upright and hold the meter horizontally, ensuring your fingers do not obstruct the pointer or scale.
Take the deepest breath you can, place your lips firmly around the mouthpiece and blow out as hard and as fast as possible.
Note the reading, reset the pointer and repeat the test two more times. Record the highest of the three readings as your peak flow measurement.
Cleaning instructions:
For personal use, immerse the meter in warm, but not hot, water containing mild detergent for approximately 2–3 minutes. Gently agitate the meter, then rinse thoroughly with warm water and shake off excess water.
Allow the device to dry completely before using it again.
Do not disassemble the meter before cleaning and do not clean inside it with a brush, cloth or other implement, as this may damage the device.
Important information:
Peak flow readings vary between individuals according to factors such as age, height and sex. When monitoring asthma, your personal best reading and changes from your usual readings are generally more useful than comparing a single result with somebody else's.
Follow your personalised asthma action plan or advice from your doctor, asthma nurse or pharmacist regarding how often to measure your peak flow and what action to take if readings fall.
If your peak flow is significantly below your usual level or you experience worsening breathlessness, wheezing or other concerning symptoms, follow your asthma action plan and seek appropriate medical advice.
