Libra Leg Bags feature a soft fabric backing, lever drainage tap and secure catheter connection and are designed for daytime collection and drainage of urine.

Libra Leg Bag Straps

Stretchable fixation straps designed to help hold a Libra Leg Bag securely against the leg.

The straps feature tapered ends to help reduce pressure against the skin and provide a comfortable, adjustable fit.

Directions:

Using a Libra Leg Bag:

Wash and dry your hands before handling the urinary drainage system.

Ensure the lever drainage tap is closed before connecting the bag.

Remove the protective cap from the inlet connector without touching the connector unnecessarily.

Connect the leg bag securely to the urinary catheter or compatible sheath.

Position the bag on the thigh or calf, depending on the selected tube length and individual requirements.

Secure the bag using the supplied straps or an appropriate Libra Leg Bag Holder.

Ensure the tubing is not kinked or twisted and that urine can drain freely into the bag.

To empty the bag, position the drainage outlet over a toilet or suitable receptacle and open the lever tap. Close the tap securely after emptying.

Using a Leg Bag Holder:

Pull the appropriately sized holder over the leg and position it on the thigh or calf.

Place the leg bag securely within the holder and ensure the drainage tap remains accessible.

Check that the holder feels secure but does not restrict circulation.

Using Leg Bag Straps:

Feed the straps through the fixation eyelets on the leg bag.

Position the straps around the thigh or calf with the gripping surface towards the skin.

Fasten securely without overtightening.

Important information:

• Leg bags are for single-patient use

• Do not use a sterile leg bag if the packaging is damaged or already open

• Maintain good hand hygiene before and after handling the drainage system

• Ensure tubing remains free from kinks, twists and obstruction

• Keep the leg bag positioned below bladder level to encourage effective drainage

• Do not allow the leg bag to become excessively full

• Empty the bag regularly

• Libra Leg Bags should normally be changed every 5–7 days, or according to the individual catheter-care plan

• Do not disconnect the drainage system unnecessarily, as repeated disconnection can increase the risk of contamination

• Check the skin beneath straps and holders regularly for redness, pressure marks or irritation

• Straps and holders should be secure but should not restrict circulation

• Seek medical advice if urine drainage stops unexpectedly or if you develop persistent pain, fever, blood in the urine or other symptoms of a possible urinary tract infection
