Vizhyal eye drops contain sodium hyaluronate, a high–molecular weight polysaccharide naturally present in the tear film. It acts as a viscoelastic lubricant, providing prolonged hydration and stabilization of the ocular surface.

The formulation is indicated for the symptomatic relief of dry eye syndrome (keratoconjunctivitis sicca), including discomfort caused by environmental factors (wind, air conditioning, screen use), contact lens wear, or post-operative dryness.

Sodium hyaluronate binds water efficiently and forms a protective, moisture-retaining film over the cornea and conjunctiva. This reduces friction during blinking, improves tear film stability, and supports epithelial healing.

Typical characteristics:

  • Lubrication and hydration of the ocular surface
  • Prolonged residence time due to viscoelastic properties
  • Improves tear film stability
  • Relieves irritation, burning, and foreign body sensation

Administration:
Instill 1 drop into the affected eye(s) as needed or as directed. Frequency depends on severity (often 2–4 times daily or more in moderate cases).

Safety profile:
Generally well tolerated. Transient blurred vision may occur immediately after instillation. Preservative-free formulations are preferred for frequent use.

Clinical positioning:
Comparable to other artificial tear substitutes, but with superior retention and bioadhesive properties versus simple saline-based drops. Suitable for chronic dry eye management and post-surgical lubrication.
