The Volumatic Spacer Device is a large-volume valved spacer designed to make it easier to use a compatible pressurised metered-dose inhaler effectively. It holds the aerosol medication briefly after the inhaler is activated, reducing the need to coordinate pressing the inhaler with breathing in and helping more medicine reach the lungs.

Key features:

  • Large-volume spacer device
  • Designed to improve delivery of inhaled medication to the lungs
  • Reduces the need to coordinate inhaler actuation with inhalation
  • One-way valve helps control airflow through the chamber
  • Valve can be heard clicking or rattling during normal breathing
  • Suitable for patients who have difficulty coordinating inhaler use
  • Reusable for a single patient
  • Separates into two halves for cleaning
  • Mouthpiece design
  • For use with compatible GSK inhalers as prescribed by a healthcare professional

How to use:
Fit the two halves of the Volumatic Spacer Device securely together.

Remove the inhaler mouthpiece cover, shake the inhaler 4–5 times and insert it firmly into the end of the spacer opposite the mouthpiece.

Breathe out as far as is comfortable, then place the spacer mouthpiece between the teeth and close the lips firmly around it.

Press the inhaler once to release one puff into the chamber. Immediately take either one deep, steady breath or 5 normal breaths through the spacer.

Administer only one puff at a time. If another puff is required, wait approximately 30 seconds, shake the inhaler again and repeat.

Cleaning instructions:
Clean the Volumatic before first use and at least twice a week during normal daily use.

Separate the two halves of the spacer. Do not dismantle the valve.

Wash in warm water containing mild detergent or a sterilising solution suitable for baby bottles.

Do not rinse the spacer after washing, as rinsing can increase static inside the chamber. Allow the parts to air dry completely at room temperature.

Do not rub the inside dry with a cloth, use heat to speed drying or autoclave the device.

Important information:
For single-patient use only. Do not share the spacer.

Use only with an inhaler that has been prescribed for use with the Volumatic Spacer Device. Changing to a different type of spacer can alter the amount of medicine delivered to the lungs, so speak to a doctor, nurse or pharmacist before changing spacer devices.

Do not release several inhaler doses into the chamber at once. Each puff should be administered and inhaled separately.

Inspect the spacer and valve regularly. With normal daily use, the manufacturer recommends replacing the Volumatic Spacer Device after 12 months.

Device type: Large-volume valved spacer device
Version: Mouthpiece
Pack size: 1 spacer device

Always read the instructions before use.
