Thick & Easy Food Thickener is a starch-based instant food and beverage thickener for the dietary management of people with dysphagia (swallowing difficulties). It is designed to increase the consistency of foods and drinks to help make swallowing safer and reduce the risk of aspiration.
Thick & Easy Original is made from modified maize starch and maltodextrin and can be added directly to hot or cold drinks and puréed foods.

- IDDSI Level 1 – Slightly Thick: 5 scoops / 7.5g
- IDDSI Level 2 – Mildly Thick: 6 scoops / 9g
- IDDSI Level 3 – Moderately Thick: 7 scoops / 10.5g
- IDDSI Level 4 – Extremely Thick: 8 scoops / 12g
1 level scoop = approximately 1.5g.
These quantities are guidelines based on water. The amount required may vary depending on the type, temperature and original consistency of the food or drink.
The required IDDSI level and quantity of thickener should be determined by a Speech and Language Therapist or other appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

How to use:
For thickening liquids:
- Measure 200ml of the required drink.
- Sprinkle the recommended number of level scoops of Thick & Easy Original into the liquid.
- Stir briskly with a whisk or fork until completely dissolved.
- Allow approximately 1 minute for the liquid to thicken.
- Check that the required IDDSI consistency has been achieved before serving.
For puréed foods:
Add the required amount of Thick & Easy Original and blend until a smooth, consistent texture is achieved.
If the food becomes thicker than required, add a small amount of suitable liquid such as water, juice or milk and blend again.
For larger quantities:
Thick & Easy Original can be mixed into liquids using a food processor.
Keep prepared food and liquids refrigerated until required.
Important information:
Thick & Easy Original is a Food for Special Medical Purposes and must only be used under medical supervision.
