Calcichew-D3 1000mg/800IU Once Daily Chewable Tablets contain calcium and vitamin D3 to help prevent and treat calcium and vitamin D deficiency in adults. They may also be used alongside specific osteoporosis treatments in people at risk of calcium and vitamin D deficiency.

Active ingredients:

Each chewable tablet contains:

  • Calcium: 1,000mg, provided as calcium carbonate
  • Vitamin D3 (Colecalciferol): 800IU
  • Equivalent to Vitamin D3: 20 micrograms

Other ingredients:

Xylitol, Povidone, Isomalt, Lemon Flavouring, Magnesium Stearate, Sucralose, Mono- and Diglycerides of Fatty Acids, All-rac-alpha-Tocopherol, Sucrose, Modified Maize Starch, Medium-Chain Triglycerides, Sodium Ascorbate and Colloidal Anhydrous Silica.

How to take:
Adults, including elderly people: Take 1 tablet once daily.

The tablet should be chewed or sucked.

Take exactly as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.

Important information:
Not intended for children or adolescents.

Do not take Calcichew-D3 if you have high calcium levels in your blood or urine, kidney stones, excessive vitamin D levels or severe kidney impairment.

Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use if you have kidney problems, sarcoidosis, are immobilised with osteoporosis, or are already taking other calcium or vitamin D supplements.

Calcium can affect the absorption of several medicines. In particular:

  • Levothyroxine should be taken at least 4 hours apart
  • Bisphosphonates should generally be taken at least 1 hour before Calcichew-D3
  • Iron and zinc supplements should be taken at least 2 hours apart
  • Some antibiotics may need to be separated from calcium by several hours

Check with your pharmacist if you take other medicines.

Possible side effects include constipation, indigestion, wind, nausea, abdominal discomfort or diarrhoea. Excessive calcium or vitamin D intake can cause high calcium levels in the blood or urine.

The tablets contain isomalt and sucrose.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, speak to a doctor or pharmacist about your total calcium and vitamin D intake.
