Hirudoid 0.3% Cream & Gel – 50g (P)

Hirudoid is a topical heparinoid treatment used for the treatment of superficial thrombophlebitis and for the soothing relief of superficial bruising and haematoma.

Both Hirudoid Cream and Hirudoid Gel contain Heparinoid 0.3% w/w, equivalent to 25,000 units per 100g. The cream provides a traditional moisturising formulation, while the gel is a lighter preparation particularly suited when a cooling effect and rapid action are preferred.

Suitable for:

• Superficial thrombophlebitis

• Haematoma / localised collection of blood beneath the skin

Directions:

For adults, elderly people and children over 5 years of age:

Apply approximately 5–15cm (2–6 inches) of the product to the affected area, up to 4 times daily.

Hirudoid Cream:
Apply to the affected area and gently massage into the skin.

Hirudoid Gel:
Apply as a thin layer to the affected area. The gel is particularly suitable where a cooling effect is preferred.

Wash your hands after application unless the hands are the area being treated.

Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Important information:

• For external use only

• Do not use in children under 5 years

• Do not use on large areas of skin

• Do not apply to broken or damaged skin

• Do not use on sensitive areas of skin or mucous membranes

• Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth and genital area

• Do not use if you are allergic to heparinoid or any of the other ingredients

• Stop use and seek advice if significant irritation or an allergic reaction develops

• If symptoms persist or worsen, seek medical advice

• Hirudoid Cream contains lanolin and cetostearyl alcohol, which may cause local skin reactions such as contact dermatitis

• Hirudoid Cream also contains parabens, which may cause allergic reactions

• Hirudoid Gel contains propylene glycol

• Fire hazard: clothing, bedding, dressings and other fabrics that have been in contact with this product can burn more easily

• Do not smoke or go near naked flames while using this product

• Washing clothing and bedding may reduce product build-up but may not completely remove the fire risk

• Store below 25°C

• Keep out of the sight and reach of children
