Lidocaine 5% Ointment is a topical local anaesthetic used to temporarily numb an area of the body and relieve pain, itching or discomfort. It works by temporarily blocking pain signals from the nerves in the area where it is applied.

  • Local anaesthesia of the gums where appropriate

It may also be used for other local anaesthetic purposes as directed by a healthcare professional.

Directions:

Use exactly as directed in the patient information leaflet or by your pharmacist or doctor. Apply only the recommended amount to the affected area.

Do not exceed the recommended dose, as excessive absorption of lidocaine can cause serious side effects.

  • Do not use if you are allergic to lidocaine or other amide-type local anaesthetics

  • Avoid excessive application or use over large areas

  • Take particular care when applying to damaged or inflamed skin
