Aciclovir 5% Cold Sore Cream – 2g

Aciclovir 5% Cream is an antiviral treatment for cold sores affecting the lips and face. It contains Aciclovir 5% w/w, which works against the herpes simplex virus responsible for cold sores by helping prevent the virus from multiplying.

Treatment is most effective when started as soon as possible, ideally at the first signs of a cold sore such as tingling, itching, redness or burning, although treatment can also be started once a blister has appeared.

Suitable for:

• Cold sores on the lips

• Cold sores on the surrounding facial skin

• Recurrent herpes labialis

Directions:

Apply a thin layer to the affected area and immediately surrounding skin 5 times daily, at approximately 4-hour intervals during the day, omitting the night-time application.

Wash your hands before and after applying the cream to help avoid spreading the infection.

Start treatment as soon as possible, preferably when the first tingling, itching, redness or burning sensation develops.

Continue treatment for 4 days.

If healing has not occurred after 4 days, treatment may be continued for up to a maximum of 10 days.

If the cold sore is still present after 10 days, stop treatment and consult a doctor.

Important information:

• For external use only

• Use only for cold sores on the lips and face

• Do not use inside the mouth

• Do not use inside or around the eyes

• Do not use inside the nose or on other mucous membranes

• Do not use to treat genital herpes

• Do not use to treat herpes infections of the eye

• Avoid touching or picking cold sores unnecessarily

• Wash your hands before and after application to reduce the risk of spreading the virus

• Do not share towels, lip products or other personal items while a cold sore is active

• Do not use if you are allergic to aciclovir, valaciclovir or any of the other ingredients

• People who are immunocompromised should seek medical advice before treating a cold sore

• Seek medical advice for particularly severe or frequently recurring cold sores

• If pregnant or breastfeeding, seek advice from a doctor or pharmacist before use

• Temporary burning, stinging, itching, dryness or flaking may occur after application
