ConvaTec Natura® High Output Pouches are large-capacity drainable ostomy pouches designed for people with an ileostomy or other stomas producing high volumes of liquid output.

They form the pouch component of the Natura® two-piece ostomy system and connect securely to a compatible Natura® baseplate using a mechanical coupling. The coupling produces a series of audible clicks when the pouch is attached, helping confirm a secure connection.

The High Output pouch incorporates an anti-reflux valve, replaceable filter and large drainage outlet with spout and cap, allowing high-volume liquid output to be emptied quickly and helping reduce the risk of output flowing back towards the stoma.

These variants are opaque for greater discretion and are supplied in boxes of 5.

Choosing the correct coupling size:

The 45mm, 57mm and 70mm measurements refer to the mechanical coupling between the pouch and Natura® baseplate.

They do not refer to the diameter of the stoma.

The pouch and baseplate coupling sizes must match exactly.

For example:

• S7467 45mm pouch requires a compatible 45mm Natura® baseplate

• S7468 57mm pouch requires a compatible 57mm Natura® baseplate

• S7469 70mm pouch requires a compatible 70mm Natura® baseplate

High Output features:

Anti-reflux valve

The integrated anti-reflux valve helps reduce the movement of liquid output back towards the stoma when the pouch contains fluid.

This is particularly useful for high-output ileostomies where the pouch contents may be predominantly liquid.

Replaceable filter

The pouch incorporates a replaceable filter designed to:

• Help release gas from the pouch

• Reduce pouch ballooning

• Help neutralise odour

Replacement filters are supplied with the pouches.

High Output drainage outlet

Rather than the conventional folding outlet found on many drainable ileostomy pouches, the Natura® High Output pouch incorporates an outlet with a spout and cap.

This allows large quantities of liquid output to be emptied quickly and conveniently.

Night drainage connection

A night drainage adaptor is supplied, allowing the pouch to be connected to an appropriate larger-capacity drainage system where required.

This can be useful for people with particularly high overnight output.

Directions:

Ensure that an appropriate Natura® baseplate has been correctly fitted around the stoma.

Check that the coupling diameter of the pouch matches the coupling diameter of the baseplate.

Align the coupling ring on the pouch with the coupling ring on the Natura® baseplate.

Press the two coupling rings together around their circumference.

A series of audible clicks indicates that the mechanical coupling is engaging.

Check the complete circumference to ensure that the pouch is securely attached.

Ensure that the drainage spout is correctly closed with the cap before use.

Empty the pouch regularly before it becomes excessively full or heavy.

To empty:

• Position the outlet appropriately over a toilet or suitable receptacle

• Open the outlet cap

• Direct the spout downward

• Allow the liquid output to drain

• Clean the outlet as appropriate

• Securely replace the cap

Where overnight drainage is required, connect the supplied adaptor and compatible drainage system according to the manufacturer's instructions.

• Ensure any night drainage tubing is positioned without kinks, obstruction or excessive pulling

• Persistent leakage may indicate that the baseplate size, appliance fit, adhesive type or level of convexity requires reassessment

• Sudden or unexplained increases in ileostomy output can lead to dehydration and electrolyte loss and may require medical assessment

• Seek appropriate clinical advice for unusually high output, reduced urine production, dizziness, marked thirst or other symptoms of dehydration

• Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for use
