Bardex Foley Catheter Range
Bardex I.C. is a range of silver-alloy and hydrogel-coated indwelling Foley catheters designed for short- to medium-term urinary bladder drainage. The catheter has a latex core coated with Bard® Hydrogel and Bactiguard® Silver Alloy, which is designed to reduce bacterial adherence and minimise biofilm formation on the catheter surface.
The range is available either as an individual pre-filled Foley catheter or as a Bard Tray, which provides the catheter pre-connected to a urine collection system together with the essential accessories required for catheterisation or re-catheterisation. Directions:
Bardex I.C. Foley catheters should be inserted and managed by an appropriately trained healthcare professional, or according to an individual catheter-care plan.
Use appropriate aseptic catheterisation technique.
Insert the catheter according to recognised catheterisation procedure and the manufacturer's instructions.
Confirm correct catheter placement before inflating the retention balloon.
Use the supplied 10ml sterile water syringe to inflate the balloon according to the product instructions.
Connect the standalone catheter to an appropriate closed drainage system. Bard Tray versions are supplied pre-connected to the selected Uriplan collection system.
The recommended indwelling period should not exceed 28 days. Actual replacement frequency should be determined according to individual clinical requirements.

- Seek medical assessment if urine drainage significantly decreases or stops, or if fever, persistent pain, bleeding or other symptoms of urinary infection develop
