Chest Infection (Uncomplicated)
How this service works
We offer assessment and treatment for uncomplicated chest infections through a private consultation with our pharmacist independent prescriber.
Chest infections are not covered under the NHS Pharmacy First service.
Private Pharmacist Prescribing
Our pharmacist independent prescriber can assess you and, where appropriate, provide treatment through a private consultation.
A private consultation fee applies, and treatment is only provided following a clinical assessment.
What to expect from your consultation
During your consultation:
- A full clinical assessment will be carried out
- Your symptoms, duration, and severity will be reviewed
- Red-flag symptoms will be checked
- Treatment will only be provided if clinically appropriate
- Clear advice and safety-netting will be given
- If the condition is not suitable for pharmacy treatment, we will refer you to your GP or urgent care.
Important information
- Many chest infections are viral and do not require antibiotics
- Antibiotics are only prescribed when clinically indicated
- Symptoms can take several weeks to fully resolve
- Breathlessness, chest pain, high fever, or worsening symptoms require urgent assessment
