Terms and conditions IP consultation
Scope of Service
This is a private clinical service and is not funded by the NHS, unless explicitly stated otherwise (e.g. NHS Pharmacy First).
A consultation will be carried out by a registered Pharmacist Independent Prescriber, which may include:

Collection of relevant medical information

Review of current medications and allergies

Assessment of symptoms

Physical observations where appropriate (e.g. temperature, blood pressure)
Following assessment, the pharmacist will determine whether:

Self-care or over-the-counter (OTC) treatment is appropriate

A prescription-only medicine is clinically appropriate
-
Referral to a GP or other healthcare service is required
Where appropriate and with your consent, consultation details may be shared with your GP surgery to support continuity of care.
Privacy and Data Protection
Your personal and medical information will be collected, stored, and processed in accordance with UK GDPR and Data Protection legislation.
Information is used only for:

Providing clinical care

Legal and professional record-keeping

Communication with your GP or other healthcare professionals where appropriate

Payment Terms (Private Prescribing)
Private pharmacist prescribing involves the following fees:

Clinical assessment fee: £20
-
Prescription fee (if medication is prescribed): £10–£15
(depending on the medicine supplied)
Important:

A consultation does not guarantee that a prescription will be issued
-
Fees cover the clinical assessment and professional time, not just medication supply

All applicable fees will be explained before proceeding
Prescribing Policy and Limitations
The Pharmacist Independent Prescriber is qualified to prescribe for selected minor and uncomplicated conditions, where clinically appropriate.
These may include (but are not limited to):

Urinary tract infections
-
Skin infections
-
Chest infections (uncomplicated cases only)

Sinusitis
-
Tonsillitis / sore throat
-
Conjunctivitis (non-severe cases)
-
Mild pain or inflammation
The pharmacist will not prescribe for:

Controlled drugs (e.g. morphine, ADHD medications)
-
Severe or chronic pain conditions
-
Long-term management of asthma or COPD
-
Diabetes or hypertension
-
Severe or acute eye conditions
-
Unlicensed cannabis-based products (including CBD)
Prescribing decisions are always based on clinical judgement, national guidance, and patient safety.
Customer Responsibilities
To ensure safe and effective care, you agree to:

Provide accurate and complete information during your consultation

Inform the pharmacist of any relevant medical conditions, medications, or allergies

Follow the advice and instructions provided
Providing inaccurate or incomplete information may affect the safety or suitability of treatment.
You should seek medical advice if:

You experience side effects after starting treatment
-
Your symptoms worsen or do not improve
-
Your medical circumstances change during treatment
Referral and Escalation
If your condition is not suitable for pharmacy treatment, or if red-flag symptoms are identified, you will be advised to seek care from:

Your GP

NHS 111
-
Urgent care or A&E (where appropriate)
