ConvaTec Esteem®+ is a one-piece closed-end ostomy pouch that combines the pouch and skin barrier in a single integrated appliance. This transparent version features a pre-cut Modified Stomahesive® skin barrier, integrated filter, one-sided comfort panel and no tape collar.

The flexible one-piece design provides a simple appliance change, while the Modified Stomahesive® barrier is designed to adhere gently to the skin and help protect the peristomal area. The transparent pouch allows the stoma and output to be seen clearly, making it useful where visual monitoring is preferred.

A closed-end pouch is generally most appropriate where output is sufficiently formed and predictable to allow the complete pouch to be removed and replaced when required. People with frequent or very liquid output may require a drainable pouch instead.

Directions:

Select the pre-cut opening that fits appropriately around the stoma.

Measure the stoma regularly, particularly after surgery or whenever its size or shape changes.

Ensure the peristomal skin is clean and completely dry before application.

Remove the protective release liner from the Modified Stomahesive® skin barrier.

Centre the pre-cut opening carefully over the stoma without allowing the barrier to press excessively against the stoma itself.

Apply the skin barrier gently to the surrounding skin and press into place to establish good contact.

Smooth the barrier around the stoma and ensure there are no folds or gaps that could contribute to leakage.

When the closed pouch requires changing, gently remove the complete pouching system from the skin and replace it with a new appliance.

Important information:

  • This is a closed-end, non-drainable pouch

  • Select the correct pre-cut opening for the individual stoma

  • A pre-cut opening that is too large may expose skin to stoma output

  • An opening that is too tight may cause pressure or irritation around the stoma

  • Stoma size may change over time, so periodic re-measurement is recommended

  • Apply only to appropriately prepared peristomal skin

  • Avoid oily creams or products that may interfere with barrier adhesion unless specifically recommended for ostomy use

  • Monitor the skin regularly for redness, soreness, breakdown or persistent leakage

  • Replace the appliance if leakage occurs or the seal becomes compromised

  • Persistent leakage or peristomal skin problems should be assessed by a Stoma Care Nurse
