LoFric® Sense™ is a single-use hydrophilic intermittent urinary catheter designed specifically for female users, combining Wellspect's Urotonic™ Surface Technology with a compact, discreet package and an ergonomic grip for controlled, hygienic catheterisation.

Each catheter contains an integrated sterile salt solution for instant activation. Simply press the solution pocket before use to activate the hydrophilic catheter surface – no separate water or lubricating gel is required.

LoFric Sense has a 15cm catheter length, straight Nelaton tip, smooth drainage eyelets and a user-friendly grip designed to support a non-touch catheterisation technique.

What is LoFric Sense used for?

LoFric Sense is intended for intermittent urinary catheterisation.

Intermittent catheterisation involves temporarily inserting a catheter through the urethra into the bladder to allow urine to drain.

Once the bladder has emptied, the catheter is removed and discarded.

It may be used for short-term or long-term bladder management where intermittent catheterisation has been recommended by an appropriate healthcare professional.

A Nelaton catheter has a:

LoFric Sense is not a Tiemann/Coudé catheter.

Smooth drainage eyelets

LoFric Sense incorporates smooth drainage eyelets near the catheter tip.

Once the catheter reaches the bladder, urine enters through these openings and drains through the catheter.

The catheter should be inserted sufficiently to ensure that both drainage eyelets are inside the bladder before drainage is completed.

Available CH sizes

The current UK LoFric Sense range includes:

• CH08

• CH14

CH means Charrière, also commonly referred to as French gauge or Fr.

It describes the external diameter of the catheter.

Approximate catheter diameters are:

• CH08 = 2.7mm

• CH10 = 3.3mm

• CH12 = 4.0mm

• CH14 = 4.7mm

A larger CH number means a larger external catheter diameter.

The user should select the exact catheter size prescribed or recommended by their healthcare professional.

Do not change catheter size without appropriate advice.

CH08 option

The CH08 version is part of the current UK LoFric Sense range and should not be omitted if you want to list the complete range.

How to activate LoFric Sense

Always follow Wellspect's Instructions for Use.

In general:

1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

2. Check that the individual package is intact.

3. Press the solution pocket to release the sterile salt solution.

4. The hydrophilic surface is activated and ready for use.

5. Pull the opening tab to open the package.

6. If helpful, use the adhesive tab on the back to hang the package from a clean, dry surface.

7. Hold the catheter using the grip.

8. Avoid unnecessary contact with the catheter surface.

How to use LoFric Sense

Always use the catheterisation technique taught by your healthcare professional.

In general:

1. Wash your hands thoroughly.

2. Activate and open the catheter package.

3. Position yourself comfortably.

4. Separate the labia and locate the urethral opening.

5. Using the grip, gently insert the catheter into the urethra.

6. Continue until urine begins to flow.

7. Insert the catheter slightly further to ensure both drainage eyelets are inside the bladder.

8. Allow urine to drain.

9. When urine stops flowing, slowly withdraw the catheter slightly.

10. If urine starts flowing again, pause until drainage stops.

11. Continue slowly withdrawing until the catheter is completely removed.

12. Dispose of the catheter appropriately.

Never force the catheter against significant resistance.

Discreet packaging

LoFric Sense has compact packaging designed for discreet carrying.

It can conveniently be stored in:
