Melgisorb Ag Antimicrobial Alginate Dressings
Melgisorb Ag is a sterile, highly absorbent antimicrobial alginate dressing containing ionic silver, designed for the management of moderately to heavily exuding wounds where infection is present or there is an increased risk of infection.
The dressing combines high-G calcium alginate and carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) with an ionic silver complex. As wound exudate is absorbed, the alginate fibres form a soft gel that helps maintain a moist wound-healing environment and supports autolytic debridement. At the same time, silver ions are released into the wound environment, providing broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity.

How to use:
Debride the wound where necessary and cleanse or irrigate it according to the recommended wound-care protocol.
Remove excess cleansing solution from the surrounding skin.
Select a Melgisorb Ag dressing that is slightly larger than the wound.
The dressing can be cut or folded to fit the wound as required.
Apply Melgisorb Ag directly to the wound bed.
For deep or cavity wounds, loosely fill the wound with the cavity dressing. Do not tightly pack the wound and do not allow the dressing to unnecessarily overlap the wound margins.
Cover and secure with an appropriate secondary dressing suitable for the amount of wound exudate.

Dressing-change frequency depends on:
- Amount of wound exudate
