Biatain Ibu Soft-Hold is a soft, flexible absorbent polyurethane foam dressing containing ibuprofen, designed for the management of painful, exuding wounds.
The dressing combines effective exudate management with the local release of a low dose of ibuprofen into the wound bed. Ibuprofen is activated and released when the foam comes into contact with wound exudate and may help reduce wound pain during wear and dressing changes.
Biatain Ibu Soft-Hold also has a gentle partially adherent layer covering less than 50% of the foam surface, helping keep the dressing temporarily in position while a secondary dressing or compression bandage is applied.

How Biatain Ibu Soft-Hold works:

- Ibuprofen is released from the foam into the moist wound environment.

For reference, a 10cm × 12cm dressing contains approximately 60mg of ibuprofen within the foam matrix.
The product is designed to provide local wound-pain management alongside moist wound healing rather than functioning as a conventional oral or topical ibuprofen medicine.

Unlike Biatain Ibu Non-Adhesive, Biatain Ibu Soft-Hold contains a gentle partially adherent wound-contact layer.

- Leg ulcers

It is suitable for use with compression therapy where compression has been clinically indicated.
Do not use Biatain Ibu Soft-Hold on donor sites.

How to use:
Biatain Ibu Soft-Hold should be used according to the Instructions for Use and the patient's wound-management plan.
- Assess and cleanse the wound according to local wound-care guidance.
- Physiological saline or clean tap water may be used for cleansing.
- Carefully dry the surrounding skin.
- Select a dressing size that adequately covers the wound.
- Apply the foam dressing directly over the wound.
- Ensure good contact between the dressing and wound bed.
- The Soft-Hold layer helps retain the dressing temporarily in position.
- Secure with an appropriate secondary dressing, fixation system or compression bandage where clinically required.
- Monitor the dressing for exudate saturation and wound progress.
Dressing changes:
Biatain Ibu Soft-Hold may remain in place for up to:
7 days
depending on:
- Wound condition
- Exudate level
- Pain
- Integrity of the dressing
- Clinical assessment
Change sooner if:
- The dressing becomes saturated
- Exudate reaches the dressing edge
- Leakage occurs
- The dressing becomes damaged or displaced
- The wound requires reassessment
- Infection or deterioration is suspected
Contraindications:
Do not use Biatain Ibu Soft-Hold in patients with known sensitivity to:
- Ibuprofen
- Any other component of the dressing
- Aspirin
- Related NSAID painkillers
Particular caution applies where previous reactions to aspirin or NSAIDs have been associated with:
- Asthma
- Rhinitis
- Urticaria / hives
Do not use during pregnancy.
Children under 12 years: Do not use except on the advice of a doctor.
Do not use Biatain Ibu Soft-Hold on donor sites.

- Hydrogen peroxide
- Hypochlorite solutions
Compatibility with wound-cleansing agents other than physiological saline or tap water has not been established.

- Diathermy
- Microwave treatment
- MRI scanning
Infected and complex wounds:
A healthcare professional should frequently assess:
- Infected wounds
- Diabetic wounds
- Wounds wholly or partly caused by arterial insufficiency
Biatain Ibu Soft-Hold does not replace appropriate treatment of:
- Wound infection
- Arterial insufficiency
- Venous disease
- Pressure damage
- Diabetes-related wound problems
The underlying cause of the wound should always be appropriately assessed and managed.
