RENASYS Y Connector is a single-use accessory for RENASYS Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) systems, designed to connect two RENASYS Soft Ports and/or drains to a single compatible RENASYS pump.

How it works:
The Y Connector has:
- Two patient-side branches for connection to RENASYS Soft Ports and/or drains
- One main therapy connection leading to the NPWT pump and canister system
This allows negative pressure from one compatible RENASYS pump to be distributed through two therapy connections.
When used with two separate wounds, both wounds are treated using the same therapy pressure setting.
For this reason, wounds requiring substantially different negative-pressure settings should not normally be connected using one Y Connector.
How to use:
The RENASYS Y Connector should be set up by an appropriately trained healthcare professional as part of a prescribed NPWT treatment plan.
In general:
- Prepare the wound or wounds and apply the appropriate RENASYS dressing systems according to their Instructions for Use.
- Prepare the compatible RENASYS NPWT pump and canister.
- Connect the main channel of the Y Connector to the canister tubing.
- Connect each of the two branches to the appropriate RENASYS Soft Port and/or drain.
- Ensure all connections are secure.
- Start therapy using the pressure setting prescribed by the treating healthcare professional.
- Check each dressing individually to confirm that negative pressure is being applied correctly and that the dressing is appropriately compressed.
- Regularly monitor both wounds and the complete therapy circuit.

Use with two wounds:
When treating two separate wounds with one Y Connector:
- Both wounds must be suitable for the same negative-pressure setting
- Both wound dressings should be checked regularly to ensure therapy is being delivered
- The same type of dressing kit should normally be used for both wounds
- Each wound must be assessed individually throughout treatment
If both wounds require particularly close independent monitoring, separate NPWT devices or an alternative dressing configuration may be more appropriate.

RENASYS Y Connector is an NPWT system accessory and does not provide negative-pressure therapy when used on its own.
It must be used with:

Monitoring:
When two separate wounds are connected to one pump:
- Check both dressings regularly
- Confirm that each dressing remains compressed
- Check for leaks

A pump alarm may not necessarily identify which branch or wound is responsible for a leak or blockage, so both wound systems should be checked individually.
Bleeding and infection:
Negative Pressure Wound Therapy can be associated with serious complications if used inappropriately.
Seek urgent clinical assessment if there is:
- Sudden or significant bleeding
- Rapidly increasing blood in the tubing or canister
- Significant deterioration of either wound
- Signs of spreading infection
- Fever or suspected sepsis
NPWT does not replace appropriate treatment of wound infection.
