Nitrolingual sublingual pump spray (P)

Nitrolingual Sublingual Pump Spray contains glyceryl trinitrate (GTN), a nitrate medicine that relaxes and widens blood vessels, reducing the workload on the heart. It is used for the rapid relief of angina attacks and can also be used immediately before activities that are known to trigger angina.

Active ingredient:
Each metered spray contains:
- Glyceryl Trinitrate (GTN): 400 micrograms
Other ingredients:
Medium-Chain Triglycerides, Ethanol, Glycerol Monocaprylocaprate, Peppermint Oil, Sodium (S)-Lactate and (S)-Lactic Acid.
How to use:
If possible, sit down before using Nitrolingual.
At the onset of an angina attack:
- Spray 1 or 2 puffs under the tongue.
- Do not inhale the spray.
- Close the mouth immediately after each spray.
- If symptoms do not resolve, the dose may be repeated at 5-minute intervals.
- Do not use more than 3 sprays in total.
- If symptoms have not resolved after a total of 3 sprays, seek immediate medical attention.
The spray may also be used immediately before activities known to trigger angina, as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
Before using a new bottle, spray once into the air to prime the pump. Repeat this if the spray has not been used for a week or longer. There is no need to shake the bottle.
Important information:
Do not use Nitrolingual with medicines for erectile dysfunction such as sildenafil, tadalafil or vardenafil, as the combination can cause a severe and potentially dangerous fall in blood pressure.
Do not use if you have very low blood pressure, severe anaemia, severe blood loss, certain serious heart conditions or if you have been advised that nitrate medicines are unsuitable for you.
Nitrolingual may cause headache, dizziness, weakness or a fall in blood pressure. Sit down when using the spray and stand up slowly afterwards.
Alcohol may increase the risk of dizziness and low blood pressure.
Nitrolingual is not intended for use in children.
If your angina pain is different from usual, more severe, lasts longer than usual or does not respond to your spray, seek urgent medical attention.
