Ingredients:
Water, Glucose Syrup, Glucose Monohydrate, Orange Flavouring (Artificial and Natural), Citric Acid (Acidity Regulator), Potassium Sorbate (Preservative), Sodium Benzoate (Preservative).
How to use:
Rapilose OGTT should be used as directed by a doctor or other healthcare professional as part of a properly conducted Oral Glucose Tolerance Test.
For adults, the standard glucose load is the full 300ml pouch, providing the equivalent of 75g anhydrous glucose. In standard OGTT protocols, the solution is generally consumed within approximately 5 minutes after the fasting blood sample has been taken.
For children weighing less than 43kg, the glucose dose is weight-dependent. A commonly used dose is 7ml per kg body weight, equivalent to 1.75g glucose/kg, up to a maximum of 300ml/75g glucose.
Important information:
An Oral Glucose Tolerance Test is a diagnostic procedure and should be carried out according to instructions from a healthcare professional.
Standard protocols usually require an overnight fast of approximately 8–14 hours before the test, with plain water permitted. The patient should remain at rest during the test and should not smoke. A fasting blood sample is taken before the glucose drink and a further blood sample is normally taken 2 hours afterwards. Different protocols apply during pregnancy and in some specialist investigations.
Do not use if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.
Some people may experience nausea or feel unwell after consuming a concentrated glucose solution.
Store below 25°C. After opening, refrigerate and use within 3 days.
