Urine testing strips provide a quick and convenient way to check for specific substances in urine. Depending on the selected product, the strips can be used to test for glucose, ketones or protein, helping with monitoring of diabetes, ketosis, kidney function and other conditions where urine testing has been recommended by a healthcare professional.

Available options:

  • Diastix – Glucose Testing: detects glucose in urine; pack of 50 strips.
  • Medi-Test Glucose: detects glucose in urine; pack of 50 strips. Results can be visually assessed after approximately 30 seconds.
  • Ketostix – Ketone Testing: detects ketones (acetoacetic acid) in urine; pack of 50 strips. Results are read after approximately 15 seconds.
  • Albustix – Protein Testing: detects protein in urine; pack of 50 strips.
  • Medi-Test Protein 2: tests for protein and urine pH; pack of 50 strips.

Key features:

  • Simple dip-and-read urine testing
  • Easy colour comparison against the chart supplied with the individual product
  • Rapid results
  • Suitable for convenient urine screening and monitoring
  • No meter or electronic reader required for visual testing
  • Individually selected strips available for glucose, ketone or protein monitoring
  • For in-vitro diagnostic use

How to use:

Collect a fresh urine sample in a clean, dry container unless the individual product instructions specify that the strip may be passed through the urine stream.

Remove one test strip without touching the reagent area and close the container immediately.

Dip the reagent area into the urine as directed, remove it and remove excess urine if required.

Wait for the exact time specified for the selected product, then compare the colour of the reagent area with the colour chart supplied on the container.

Always follow the individual manufacturer's instructions, as reading times differ between products.

Important information:

Select the correct strip for the parameter you need to test. Glucose, ketone and protein strips are not interchangeable.

Urine test results are intended as a screening or monitoring aid and should not be used alone to diagnose a medical condition.

A positive urine glucose result may require further assessment of blood glucose. Urine glucose testing does not replace blood glucose monitoring where this has been recommended.

Ketones may occur during illness, fasting or reduced carbohydrate intake, but in a person with diabetes, particularly with high blood glucose or symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, rapid breathing or drowsiness, raised ketones can require urgent medical assessment.

Protein detected in urine may have several causes. Persistent or unexpected protein results should be discussed with a healthcare professional.

Store strips in their original container, tightly closed and protected from moisture, heat and direct sunlight. Follow the storage temperature and opened-container expiry stated for the specific product.

Do not use strips after their expiry date or if the reagent area appears damaged or discoloured.

Test type: Urine reagent test strips
Available tests: Glucose / Ketones / Protein / Protein + pH
Pack size: Varies by selected product, generally 50 strips

Always read the instructions supplied with the selected test strips before use.
