Dansac GX-tra™ Seal is a mouldable hydrocolloid ostomy barrier ring designed to provide additional protection against leakage around the stoma.

The seal can be stretched and moulded to fit closely around the stoma or cut into smaller pieces to help fill skin folds, scars, creases and uneven contours. By creating a more even surface underneath the stoma appliance, it can help reduce the risk of stoma output getting underneath the skin barrier and coming into contact with vulnerable peristomal skin.

This version has a 20mm starter hole, 50mm outer diameter and 2.5mm thickness.

Suitable for:

Directions:

Ensure the skin around the stoma is clean and completely dry before application.

Remove the GX-tra Seal from its protective backing.

Gently stretch and mould the seal so that it fits closely around the base of the stoma.

If required, the seal may be cut into smaller sections to fill individual skin folds, scars, dips or uneven areas.

The seal can be applied either:

• directly to the peristomal skin, or

• directly to the adhesive skin barrier of the stoma appliance.

Press gently into place to create an even surface and minimise gaps around the stoma.

Apply the stoma pouch or baseplate over the GX-tra Seal according to the appliance manufacturer's instructions.

Replace the seal whenever the stoma appliance is changed.

• Select the seal size according to the individual stoma size and surrounding skin contours

• The seal should fit closely around the stoma without causing excessive pressure

• Stoma size and shape may change over time, particularly after surgery or changes in body weight

• Re-measure the stoma if the existing seal no longer provides an appropriate fit

• Monitor the surrounding skin for redness, soreness, breakdown or persistent leakage

• Persistent leakage may indicate that the seal, pouch, baseplate or level of convexity requires reassessment

• Stop use if significant irritation or an unexpected skin reaction develops

• Seek advice from a Stoma Care Nurse if leakage or peristomal skin damage continues despite appropriate use
