ConvaTec Esteem™+ Flex Convex is a one-piece closed ostomy pouch with a flexible convex skin barrier, designed to combine the security of convexity with greater flexibility and freedom of movement.

The flexible convex baseplate adapts to the contours of the abdomen and is particularly useful for flush or retracted stomas, skin folds, creases and uneven abdominal contours. Its hydrocolloid skin barrier is designed to remain securely in place and help minimise leakage while providing comfortable contact with the peristomal skin.

The closed pouch is intended primarily for people with a colostomy and formed or predictable output, where the complete pouch is removed and replaced rather than emptied.

Key features:

  • One-piece closed ostomy pouch

  • Flexible convex baseplate

  • Combines flexibility with convex support

  • Designed to move with the contours of the body

  • Particularly useful for flush and retracted stomas

  • Can help manage skin folds, creases and uneven abdominal contours

  • Hydrocolloid skin barrier designed for secure adhesion

  • Helps minimise the risk of leakage

  • Soft, tapered barrier edges help resist catching on clothing

  • Soft and quiet pouch fabric for comfort and discretion

  • Integrated filter helps control odour and reduce ballooning

  • Split-fabric easy-view window

  • Easy-view window helps with accurate positioning during application

  • Allows observation of the stoma and output when required

  • Opaque pouch

  • Cut-to-fit openings for individual stoma sizing

  • Available in several convex plateau sizes

  • Box of 30 pouches

Available options:

V0 – 60mm Convex Plateau

  • Code: 422158

  • Cut-to-fit opening: 20–57mm

  • Box of 30

V1 – 50mm Convex Plateau

  • Code: 421612

  • Cut-to-fit opening: 20–43mm

  • Box of 30

V2 – 40mm Convex Plateau

  • Code: 421613

  • Cut-to-fit opening: 20–35mm

  • Box of 30

V3 – 30mm Convex Plateau

  • Code: 421614

  • Cut-to-fit opening: 20–25mm

  • Box of 30

The appropriate plateau and opening size should be selected according to the stoma size, degree of protrusion or retraction, abdominal contour and individual clinical requirements.

Suitable for:

  • Colostomy

  • Formed or relatively predictable faecal output

  • Flush stomas

  • Retracted stomas

  • Stomas positioned within skin folds or creases

  • Uneven or challenging abdominal contours

  • People who require convexity but prefer a more flexible baseplate

  • Users who prefer a disposable closed pouch rather than a drainable system

Closed pouches are generally most appropriate where output is sufficiently formed and predictable for the entire pouch to be removed and replaced when required. A drainable pouch may be more appropriate for frequent or liquid output.

Directions:

Measure the stoma before preparing the appliance.

Select the appropriate convex plateau and cut-to-fit size range.

Using an appropriate stoma measuring guide, mark the required opening on the skin barrier.

Carefully cut the opening so that it fits closely around the stoma without constricting it.

Ensure the peristomal skin is clean and completely dry.

Remove the protective release liner from the skin barrier.

Use the easy-view window to help accurately centre the opening over the stoma.

Apply the appliance gently to the skin and press around the barrier to establish secure contact.

Smooth the flexible edges into place, particularly around folds or uneven areas.

When the pouch requires changing, gently peel the appliance away from the skin while supporting the surrounding skin.

Dispose of the used pouch according to local guidance.

Important information:

  • This is a closed, non-drainable ostomy pouch

  • Correct assessment of convexity is important; seek advice from a Stoma Care Nurse if unsure which plateau is appropriate

  • Measure the stoma regularly, particularly after surgery or if its size or shape changes

  • Cut the opening to fit closely around the stoma without causing pressure

  • An opening that is too large may expose peristomal skin to stoma output

  • An opening that is too small may cause pressure or trauma to the stoma

  • Apply to clean and dry peristomal skin

  • Avoid oily creams or products that may impair adhesion unless specifically recommended for ostomy use

  • Monitor the skin regularly for redness, soreness, breakdown or leakage

  • Replace the pouch if leakage occurs or the seal becomes compromised

  • Persistent leakage may indicate that the convex plateau, opening size or overall appliance fit requires reassessment

  • Seek advice from a Stoma Care Nurse if peristomal skin problems or repeated leakage occur

  • Follow the manufacturer's instructions for use
