500ml capacity

Direct inlet design

Direct inlet versus other LINC-Flo® options

The LINC-Flo® range is available with several inlet configurations.

Direct inlet

The connector enters close to the collection bag.

This is the configuration of LM500SD-T.

10cm inlet tube

Provides additional tubing between the catheter and bag.

30cm inlet tube

Provides greater length for positioning the bag further down the leg.

Adjustable inlet tube

Allows the inlet tubing length to be adjusted to suit the individual user.

The correct configuration should be selected according to catheter position, preferred bag location, mobility and clothing.

T-tap outlet

Reference LM500SD-T incorporates a T-tap drainage outlet.

The tap allows the bag to be emptied repeatedly while remaining connected to the urinary drainage system.

To empty:

• Perform appropriate hand hygiene

• Position the outlet over a toilet or suitable receptacle

• Open the T-tap according to the manufacturer's instructions

• Allow the urine to drain

• Avoid allowing the outlet to touch the toilet or receptacle

• Close the tap securely

• Check that urine is no longer draining before repositioning clothing

Daytime urinary drainage

LINC-Flo® sterile leg bags include an overnight connector, allowing an appropriate larger-capacity night drainage bag to be connected without removing the daytime leg bag.

This creates a link-drainage system.

Maintaining the leg bag as part of the closed drainage system rather than routinely disconnecting it can help minimise unnecessary manipulation of the catheter connection.

When using overnight drainage:

• Use an appropriate compatible night bag

• Keep the leg bag connected to the catheter

• Connect the night bag to the leg-bag drainage outlet according to the manufacturer's instructions

• Position the night bag below bladder level

• Ensure tubing is free from kinks

• Avoid trapping tubing under the body or bedding

• Ensure there is no pulling on the catheter

• Check that urine can flow freely into the night bag

Always follow the instructions supplied with both drainage products.

Maintaining a closed drainage system

With an indwelling urinary catheter, unnecessary disconnection of the drainage system should generally be avoided.

When additional overnight capacity is required, the night drainage bag should normally be connected to the leg bag as a link system rather than removing the daytime leg bag solely for overnight use.

Good catheter-management practice includes:

Emptying the bag

• Close the T-tap securely

Changing the leg bag

Leg bags should be replaced according to the manufacturer's instructions and the user's individual catheter-care plan.

UK continence guidance commonly uses a replacement interval of approximately 5–7 days for reusable leg drainage bags, unless the manufacturer's instructions or individual clinical circumstances require otherwise.

Replace the bag earlier if:
