ConvaTec Natura® Mouldable Convex Durahesive® Baseplates are mould-to-fit convex ostomy skin barriers designed for use with compatible Natura® two-piece pouches.

The baseplate combines built-in convexity with ConvaTec Mouldable Technology™, allowing the opening to be rolled and shaped around the individual stoma without cutting with scissors.

The convex profile applies gentle pressure around the stoma to help a flush, recessed or retracted stoma protrude more effectively into the pouch, while the mouldable barrier creates a close-fitting seal around the stoma.

Durahesive® Technology provides additional protection against liquid or more aggressive stoma output, while the flexible microporous collar helps the baseplate conform comfortably to the abdominal surface.

Available variants:

  • S7304 – Mould-to-fit 13–22mm45mm coupling – Box of 10

  • S7305 – Mould-to-fit 22–33mm45mm coupling – Box of 10

  • S7306 – Mould-to-fit 33–45mm57mm coupling – Box of 10

Key features:

  • Convex two-piece ostomy baseplate

  • Part of the ConvaTec Natura® two-piece system

  • ConvaTec Mouldable Technology™

  • No cutting with scissors required

  • Starter opening is rolled and moulded to fit the stoma

  • Built-in convexity

  • Helps support flush, recessed or retracted stomas

  • Convex profile applies gentle pressure around the stoma to encourage protrusion

  • Durahesive® skin barrier technology

  • Durahesive® helps provide additional protection against liquid or caustic output

  • Barrier gently swells when exposed to moisture, helping form a protective “turtleneck” effect around the stoma

  • Flexible microporous fabric collar

  • Secure Natura® mechanical coupling

  • Audible clicks help confirm secure pouch attachment

  • Available with 45mm or 57mm coupling

  • Box of 10 baseplates

Suitable for:

Depending on professional assessment and the compatible pouch selected:

  • Ileostomy

  • Urostomy

  • Colostomy where convexity is clinically appropriate

  • Flush stomas

  • Recessed stomas

  • Retracted stomas

  • Stomas that sit at or below skin level

  • Uneven peristomal profiles

  • Liquid or more aggressive stoma output

  • Users requiring a mouldable rather than cut-to-fit skin barrier

  • Users of compatible Natura® two-piece pouches

Important – convexity should be professionally assessed

These baseplates incorporate integral convexity.

The NHS Drug Tariff specifically states that this type of product should only be used following prior assessment of suitability by an appropriate medical professional.

Convexity applies pressure to the area around the stoma and can be beneficial where the stoma is flush, recessed or retracted, but inappropriate convexity can contribute to pressure-related skin problems.

A Stoma Care Nurse or other appropriately trained healthcare professional should therefore assess whether convexity is suitable.

Choosing the correct variant:

Two measurements must be considered:

1. Mouldable stoma range

  • S7304: 13–22mm

  • S7305: 22–33mm

  • S7306: 33–45mm

Choose the variant whose mouldable range appropriately accommodates the individual stoma.

2. Natura® coupling size

  • S7304: 45mm coupling

  • S7305: 45mm coupling

  • S7306: 57mm coupling

The coupling measurement refers to the connection between the baseplate and pouch.

It is not the diameter of the stoma.

The Natura® pouch must have exactly the same coupling diameter as the baseplate.

For example:

  • S7304 or S7305 requires a compatible 45mm Natura® pouch

  • S7306 requires a compatible 57mm Natura® pouch

How Mouldable Technology™ works:

The starter opening is gently rolled backwards with the fingers until it corresponds to the approximate size and shape of the stoma.

The baseplate is then positioned around the stoma.

The mouldable adhesive gently rebounds towards the stoma, producing a close-fitting turtleneck effect around the stoma.

This helps:

  • Reduce gaps around the stoma

  • Minimise exposed peristomal skin

  • Help prevent output travelling underneath the barrier

  • Accommodate normal changes in stoma size and shape

No scissors are required to prepare the mouldable opening.

How Durahesive® Technology works:

Durahesive® is designed particularly for situations involving liquid or more aggressive stoma output.

When exposed to moisture, the barrier gently swells around the stoma. This helps maintain close contact around the stoma and provides additional protection for the surrounding skin.

This feature can be particularly useful with an ileostomy or urostomy, where output may be more fluid.

Directions:

The suitability of a convex appliance should first be assessed by an appropriate healthcare professional.

Measure the stoma and select the appropriate mouldable size range.

Ensure that the chosen Natura® pouch has the same coupling diameter as the baseplate.

Clean the skin around the stoma according to the normal stoma-care routine and ensure that it is appropriately dry.

Remove the baseplate from its packaging.

Using the fingers or thumbs, gently roll back the mouldable starter opening until it corresponds to the size and shape of the stoma.

Do not cut the mouldable opening with scissors.

Remove the protective backing.

Centre the baseplate carefully over the stoma.

Apply the convex baseplate to the abdominal surface and press gently into position.

Gently mould the adhesive around the stoma to create a close fit.

Smooth the flexible collar onto the surrounding skin.

Attach the compatible Natura® pouch.

Press the pouch and baseplate coupling rings together around the circumference.

Audible clicks help confirm that the coupling is securely engaged.

Check around the complete coupling before use.

Important information:

  • These products are baseplates only

  • Pouch not included

  • Compatible Natura® two-piece pouches are supplied separately

  • This product incorporates convexity

  • Convex appliances should be used following assessment by an appropriate healthcare professional

  • Always match the pouch and baseplate coupling sizes exactly

  • Coupling size is not the same as stoma diameter

  • Select the appropriate mouldable range for the stoma

  • Do not cut the mouldable opening

  • The barrier should fit closely around the stoma without constricting it

  • Check peristomal skin regularly for redness, soreness, pressure marks, maceration or breakdown

  • Persistent leakage may indicate that the mouldable size, degree of convexity, pouching system or accessory requirements need reassessment

  • Seek advice from a Stoma Care Nurse if leakage, pressure-related skin problems or poor appliance fit occurs

  • Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for use
