ConvaTec Natura® Two-Piece Stomahesive® Baseplates (Combihesive Flanges) – Oval & Square

ConvaTec Natura® Two-Piece Stomahesive® Baseplates are cut-to-fit ostomy skin barriers designed for use with compatible Natura® two-piece pouches.

These baseplates use Stomahesive® skin barrier technology together with a flexible microporous collar to provide secure attachment to the skin while helping protect the peristomal area from contact with stoma output.

The baseplate and pouch are separate components. A compatible Natura® pouch attaches to the baseplate using a mechanical coupling ring, with an audible click helping confirm that the pouch is securely connected.

These variants are available with either an oval or square microporous collar and in coupling sizes from 32mm to 70mm.

Choosing the correct size:

Two different measurements must be considered:

1. Stoma opening range

This determines how large the opening in the adhesive barrier can be cut.

For example:

• 32mm coupling: cut-to-fit 13–19mm

• 38mm coupling: cut-to-fit 13–25mm

• 45mm coupling: cut-to-fit 13–32mm

• 57mm coupling: cut-to-fit 13–45mm

• 70mm coupling: cut-to-fit 13–57mm

2. Coupling size

The coupling size refers to the mechanical connection between the baseplate and pouch.

It is not the same as the stoma diameter.

The coupling size of the Natura® pouch must match the coupling size of the baseplate exactly. For example, a 57mm Natura® pouch must be used with a 57mm Natura® baseplate.

Directions:

Measure the stoma carefully before preparing the baseplate.

Trace or mark the required opening on the Stomahesive® barrier.

Cut the opening so that it fits closely around the stoma without constricting it.

Clean the surrounding peristomal skin and ensure that it is appropriately dry.

Remove the protective backing from the baseplate.

Centre the prepared opening over the stoma and apply the baseplate smoothly to the skin.

Press gently around the adhesive area to establish secure contact.

Align the compatible Natura® pouch coupling with the baseplate coupling.

Press the coupling rings together around the circumference until the pouch is securely attached.

The audible clicks produced during connection help indicate that the mechanical coupling has engaged.

Check the entire coupling before use to ensure the pouch is fully secured.

Important information:

• These products are baseplates/flanges only – a compatible Natura® pouch is required separately

• Always match the pouch coupling size to the baseplate coupling size

• Coupling size should not be confused with stoma diameter

• Measure the stoma before cutting the baseplate

• The opening should fit closely around the stoma without constricting it

• An opening that is too large may expose peristomal skin to stoma output

• Check the skin regularly for redness, soreness, maceration or breakdown

• Persistent leakage may indicate that the aperture size, appliance type or level of convexity requires reassessment

• Seek advice from a Stoma Care Nurse if leakage or peristomal skin problems persist

• Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for use
