ConvaTec Natura® Mouldable Technology™ Baseplates are mould-to-fit ostomy skin barriers designed for use with compatible Natura® two-piece pouches.

Unlike conventional cut-to-fit baseplates, ConvaTec Mouldable Technology™ allows the adhesive opening to be rolled and shaped around the individual stoma without cutting with scissors. The mouldable material gently surrounds the stoma to create a close, personalised fit, helping minimise exposed peristomal skin and reduce the risk of leakage.

The baseplate combines a Stomahesive® Technology skin-side layer with a Durahesive® Technology top-side layer. The Stomahesive layer is designed to hold securely yet gently to the skin, while the Durahesive layer provides additional protection from liquid or caustic stoma output.

Choosing the correct size:

The correct Natura® Mouldable Baseplate is selected according to both the stoma size and the required pouch coupling size.

The coupling measurement refers to the connection between the baseplate and Natura® pouch. It is not the diameter of the stoma.

A compatible Natura® pouch must have the same coupling size as the selected baseplate.

How Mouldable Technology™ works:

The mouldable starter opening is gently rolled backwards using the thumbs until it corresponds to the size and shape of the stoma.

The baseplate is then positioned around the stoma.

Once applied, the mouldable material gently expands back towards the stoma, producing a close-fitting turtleneck effect.

This helps reduce gaps and exposed skin without requiring the opening to be cut with scissors.

The material can also respond to normal changes in the shape and size of the stoma during wear.

Directions:

Assess or measure the stoma and select the appropriate mouldable size range.

Ensure that the chosen Natura® pouch has the same coupling diameter as the baseplate.

Clean the skin around the stoma according to the normal stoma-care routine and ensure that it is appropriately dry.

Remove the baseplate from its packaging.

Using the thumbs, roll back the mouldable starter opening until it matches the approximate size and shape of the stoma.

Do not cut the mouldable opening.

Remove the release backing.

Centre the opening carefully over the stoma and apply the baseplate to the skin.

If necessary, gently readjust the mouldable material around the stoma to achieve a snug fit.

Smooth the baseplate onto the surrounding skin and hold it in position according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Attach a compatible Natura® pouch to the coupling ring.

Press around the coupling until the pouch is completely connected. Audible clicks help confirm secure engagement.

Check around the complete circumference to make sure the pouch is securely attached.
