EMLA® Cream 5% is a topical local anaesthetic cream containing lidocaine 2.5% and prilocaine 2.5%, used to temporarily numb the skin before certain medical procedures.
It is licensed for topical anaesthesia before procedures such as needle insertion, blood sampling, intravenous cannulation and minor superficial skin procedures.

Directions
Apply a thick layer to intact skin and cover with an appropriate occlusive dressing where required.
For adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over undergoing minor procedures such as needle insertion, the SmPC recommends approximately 2g, or around 1.5g per 10cm², applied for 1–5 hours. Doses and application times for children vary according to age.

- Avoid contact with the eyes
- Do not exceed the recommended dose or application time
- Special dosing restrictions apply in babies and young children
- Certain uses, including genital mucosa and leg ulcers, should only be carried out by or under supervision of a healthcare professional
