EMLA contains lidocaine and prilocaine, local anaesthetics that temporarily numb the surface of the skin.
Used before:
- Injections and vaccinations
- Blood tests and cannulation
- Minor skin procedures
How to use:
For adults and young people over 12, the usual dose before a minor skin procedure is approximately 2 g applied in a thick layer under a suitable dressing for at least 60 minutes. Children require age-specific doses, so follow the leaflet carefully.
Important information:
Do not apply to cuts, grazes, open wounds or near the eyes unless specifically advised by a healthcare professional. Different doses and application times apply according to age and procedure.
