Ferrograd Folic is a prolonged-release iron and folic acid medicine used during pregnancy to help prevent and treat iron-deficiency anaemia and to help prevent folate-deficiency megaloblastic anaemia.

Active ingredients:

Each tablet contains:

  • Dried Ferrous Sulphate: 325mg
  • Equivalent to Elemental Iron: 105mg
  • Folic Acid: 350 micrograms

How to take:
Adults: Take one tablet daily throughout pregnancy and for the first month after giving birth.

Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not suck, chew or keep the tablet in the mouth.

The tablet should preferably be taken before food. If it causes stomach upset, it may be taken with a meal.

Important information:
Not recommended for children under 12 years.

Do not take Ferrograd Folic if you have pernicious anaemia or another vitamin B12 deficiency, haemochromatosis, haemosiderosis, intestinal obstruction or diverticular disease, receive repeated blood transfusions, or are receiving iron by injection.

Iron can interact with several medicines, including some antibiotics, antacids, calcium supplements, zinc and other medicines. Tea, coffee, milk and some foods may also reduce iron absorption. Speak to your pharmacist if you take other medicines.

Possible side effects include nausea, stomach discomfort, constipation, diarrhoea and dark stools.

Important: Contains iron. Keep out of the reach and sight of children, as overdose may be fatal.
