Hollister Moderma Flex™ CeraPlus™ is a range of one-piece closed colostomy pouches with a ceramide-infused CeraPlus™ skin barrier, designed for people with formed or relatively predictable stoma output.

The range is available with Flat, Convex and Soft Convex skin barriers, allowing the appliance profile to be selected according to the individual stoma and surrounding body shape.

All variants are Beige with a Viewing Option, combining discretion during normal wear with the ability to lift the pouch covering and inspect the stoma when required.

An integrated AF300™ filter helps manage intestinal gas and odour.

What is Moderma Flex CeraPlus used for?

Moderma Flex CeraPlus closed pouches are designed primarily for colostomies with formed or relatively predictable output.

A closed pouch has no drainage outlet.

Once the pouch contains sufficient output, the entire one-piece appliance is removed and replaced.

Closed pouches are generally most practical where output is:

• Formed

• Semi-formed

• Relatively predictable

• Produced at manageable intervals

For frequent or liquid output, a drainable Moderma Flex CeraPlus pouch may be more suitable.

One-piece system

Moderma Flex CeraPlus is a one-piece appliance.

The pouch and CeraPlus adhesive skin barrier are permanently joined.

There is:

• No separate flange

• No mechanical coupling

• No separate pouch attachment

When changing the pouch, the complete appliance is removed and replaced.

CeraPlus™ skin barrier

The CeraPlus skin barrier incorporates ceramide using Hollister's Remois Technology™.

Ceramide is naturally present within healthy skin and contributes to the skin's natural moisture barrier.

The CeraPlus formulation is designed to:

• Help protect the skin's natural moisture barrier

• Support healthy peristomal skin

• Maintain secure adhesive properties

• Help manage moisture around the stoma

This may be particularly valuable because peristomal skin is exposed to repeated adhesive application and removal.

Flat CeraPlus

The Flat variants are generally suitable where:

• The stoma protrudes adequately above skin level

• The surrounding abdominal surface is relatively even

• Significant inward dips are absent

• Convex pressure is not required

Convex CeraPlus

The Convex variants incorporate a firmer convex profile.

Convexity may be considered where:

• The stoma is flush

• The stoma is retracted

• The stoma sits within an inward depression

• There are inward contours around the stoma

• Additional pressure around the stoma may help improve the seal

• Leakage occurs because the stoma does not protrude sufficiently

Convexity should ideally be selected with advice from a Stoma Care Nurse.

Current Convex references begin with 526.

Soft Convex CeraPlus

The Soft Convex variants provide a gentler, more flexible convex profile.

They may be appropriate where some convex support is required but a softer profile is preferable.

Soft Convex may be considered for:

• Slightly flush stomas

• Mildly retracted stomas

• Soft abdominal contours

• Areas where gentle convex support is required

Current Soft Convex references begin with 522.

The appropriate degree and type of convexity depends on the individual stoma and body profile.

Flat vs Soft Convex vs Convex

Flat

• No convex pressure

• Best suited to appropriately protruding stomas and relatively even surrounding skin

Soft Convex

• Gentler convex support

• More flexible profile

• Useful where mild support may improve the seal

Convex

• More defined convex profile

• Used where additional pressure around the stoma is required

Do not select between these options purely according to stoma diameter.

The body profile and stoma position are equally important.

Viewing Option

All of the variants in this listing use a Beige pouch with Viewing Option.

During normal wear, the Beige pouch provides discretion.

The covering can be lifted when required to inspect:

• The stoma

• Output

• Position of the opening

• The surrounding seal

This can be useful during application and routine stoma checks.

AF300™ filter

The integrated AF300™ filter is designed to allow intestinal gas to leave the pouch gradually while helping deodorise the escaping gas.

This can help:

• Reduce pouch ballooning

• Manage intestinal gas

• Reduce unwanted odour

• Maintain a flatter pouch profile

• Improve discretion beneath clothing

Midi and Maxi

The range includes Midi and Maxi pouch sizes.

Midi

• More compact

• Lower overall pouch profile

Maxi

• Greater collection capacity

• May be preferred where a larger pouch is required

The correct size is primarily a matter of output volume and user preference.

Cut-to-fit options

Cut-to-fit barriers allow the opening to be enlarged according to the measured stoma.

Depending on the product, ranges include:

• 15–38mm

• 15–51mm

• 15–55mm

• 15–64mm

Measure the stoma carefully before cutting.

The finished opening should fit closely around the stoma without:

• Rubbing

• Constricting

• Leaving unnecessary skin exposed

Do not cut beyond the maximum stated diameter.

Pre-cut options

Selected Moderma Flex CeraPlus pouches are available with fixed openings.

Current pre-cut options include:

• 25mm

• 30mm

• 35mm

• 40mm depending on barrier/profile

Pre-cut pouches are most appropriate where the stoma size is stable and closely corresponds to the stated opening.

Applying the pouch

Always follow Hollister's Instructions for Use.

In general:

1. Remove the existing pouch gently.

2. Clean the peristomal skin according to the normal stoma-care routine.

3. Dry the skin thoroughly.

4. Measure the stoma if using a cut-to-fit appliance.

5. Cut the CeraPlus barrier to the required size and shape.

6. Remove the protective backing.

7. Centre the opening around the stoma.

8. Apply the barrier smoothly to the surrounding skin.

9. Apply gentle hand pressure to establish secure contact.

10. Use the Viewing Option to check positioning if required.

Changing a closed pouch

Because Moderma Flex CeraPlus is a closed one-piece pouch, it is replaced rather than emptied.

To change:

• Gently loosen the adhesive edge

• Support the surrounding skin

• Slowly peel the appliance away

• Dispose of the used pouch appropriately

• Clean and inspect the peristomal skin

• Apply a fresh pouch

An appropriate adhesive-remover product may be used where required.
