LMX4® Lidocaine 4% Local Anaesthetic Cream (P)

LMX4® is a topical local anaesthetic cream containing lidocaine 4% w/w, used to temporarily numb intact skin before procedures such as venepuncture, venous cannulation and other painful topical treatments where a local anaesthetic is appropriate.
It works by temporarily blocking pain signals from the treated area of skin.

Directions
For venepuncture or cannulation, apply the required amount to intact skin and leave in place according to the Patient Information Leaflet. Adequate anaesthesia is generally achieved after around 30 minutes.
The cream may be covered with an appropriate occlusive dressing to prevent it being disturbed.
Remove the cream before the procedure and prepare the skin in the usual way.
Dosage and maximum application time vary according to age and the size of the area being treated, so always follow the instructions supplied with the product.
Important information
- Do not use in babies under 1 month
- Apply only to intact skin unless specifically advised otherwise
- Avoid contact with the eyes
- Do not use if allergic to lidocaine or similar local anaesthetics
- Do not exceed the recommended dose or application time
- Tell a pharmacist or healthcare professional if using other medicines containing lidocaine or other local anaesthetics
