What is LoFric Elle used for?

LoFric Elle is intended for intermittent urinary catheterisation.

Intermittent catheterisation involves temporarily inserting a catheter through the urethra into the bladder to allow urine to drain.

Once the bladder has emptied, the catheter is removed and discarded.

It may be used for short-term or long-term bladder management where intermittent catheterisation has been prescribed or recommended by an appropriate healthcare professional.

CH means Charrière, also commonly referred to as French gauge or Fr.

It describes the external diameter of the catheter.

Approximate diameters are:

• CH10 = 3.3mm

• CH12 = 4.0mm

• CH14 = 4.7mm

A larger CH number means a wider catheter.

The correct catheter size should be selected according to the user's prescription or advice from their healthcare professional.

Do not change catheter size without appropriate clinical advice.

How to use LoFric Elle

Always follow the catheterisation technique taught by your healthcare professional and the manufacturer's Instructions for Use.

In general:

1. Wash your hands thoroughly.

2. Open the top of the LoFric Elle container.

3. Hold the catheter and gently bend the upper section to open it.

4. Pull the catheter from the container.

5. Connect the container to the catheter with a gentle twist.

6. Ensure the arrow on the container is pointing down.

7. The container now functions as an angled handle.

8. Position yourself comfortably.

9. Locate the urethral opening.

10. Using the handle, gently insert the catheter into the urethra.

11. Continue until urine begins to flow.

12. Insert slightly further to ensure both drainage eyelets are within the bladder.

13. Allow the bladder to empty.

14. When the urine flow slows to a drip, slowly begin withdrawing the catheter.

15. If urine begins flowing again, pause until drainage stops.

16. Remove the catheter completely.

17. Return it to the container if desired.

18. Dispose of the catheter appropriately.

Single use only

Each LoFric Elle catheter is designed for one catheterisation only.

After use:

• Remove the catheter

• Dispose of it appropriately

• Do not wash it

• Do not attempt to reactivate it

• Do not reuse it

Use a new sterile catheter for every catheterisation.

Discreet disposal

After catheterisation, the used catheter can be returned to its container.

This can help make disposal more discreet, particularly when catheterising away from home.

Connection to a urine collection bag
