Medi-Test Glucose Test Strips are urine reagent strips designed for the semi-quantitative detection of glucose in urine. They provide a quick visual screening method for monitoring urinary glucose and may be used by patients or healthcare professionals when urine glucose testing has been recommended.

Test range:

The colour scale provides semi-quantitative results from negative/normal through increasing urinary glucose concentrations, with manufacturer reference levels of:

  • Negative
  • Normal
  • 50mg/dL
  • 150mg/dL
  • 500mg/dL
  • ≥1000mg/dL

How to use:

Collect a fresh urine sample in a clean, dry container.

Remove one test strip without touching the reagent area and immediately close the container.

Immerse the test area completely in the urine for approximately 1 second.

Remove the strip and briefly dab the edge against absorbent paper to remove excess urine without touching the reagent area.

Wait approximately 30 seconds, then compare the colour of the test area with the glucose colour scale printed on the container.

Complete the evaluation within 60 seconds of immersing the strip.

Important information:

These strips measure urine glucose – they are not blood glucose test strips and are not used with a blood glucose meter.

Urine glucose testing does not provide the same information as a current blood glucose measurement and should not replace blood glucose or continuous glucose monitoring when these have been recommended.

An abnormal or unexpected urine glucose result should be discussed with an appropriate healthcare professional. A urine test alone should not be used to diagnose diabetes or make changes to diabetes medication.

Store the strips in their original container between 4–30°C, protected from moisture and excessive heat. Close the container immediately after removing a strip. The manufacturer's stated shelf life is approximately 2.5 years from manufacture when stored correctly.

Do not use after the expiry date or if the reagent area appears damaged or discoloured.
