Mepilex Border Flex is a self-adherent, absorbent soft silicone foam dressing designed for the management of a wide range of exuding acute and chronic wounds. Its five-layer construction absorbs, distributes and retains wound exudate, while Safetac® soft silicone technology helps minimise pain and damage to the wound and surrounding skin during dressing changes.

The dressing incorporates Flex Technology™, providing 360° flexibility to conform closely to the body and accommodate movement while helping reduce premature lifting or detachment.

Key features:

  • 5-layer absorbent foam dressing
  • Suitable for a wide range of exuding wounds
  • Safetac® soft silicone wound contact layer
  • Helps minimise pain and skin trauma during dressing changes
  • Helps reduce the risk of maceration
  • Flex Technology™ provides 360° flexibility and conformability
  • Absorbs, distributes and retains wound exudate
  • Helps trap exudate containing bacteria away from the wound bed
  • Exudate Progress Monitor helps indicate how fluid is spreading through the dressing
  • Highly breathable backing film
  • Outer film acts as a barrier against external bacteria
  • Water-resistant, allowing patients to shower with the dressing in place
  • Can be used under compression therapy
  • Sterile and individually packed
  • May remain in place for up to 7 days, depending on the wound condition and clinical assessment

Suitable for:

  • Pressure ulcers
  • Leg ulcers
  • Foot ulcers
  • Traumatic wounds
  • Skin tears
  • Surgical wounds
  • Other acute and chronic exuding wounds
  • Dry or necrotic wounds when used in combination with an appropriate wound gel
  • Prevention of skin damage and pressure ulcers as part of an appropriate prophylactic care programme

Directions:

Cleanse the wound according to normal wound-care practice and dry the surrounding skin thoroughly.

Select a dressing of an appropriate size so that the absorbent wound pad adequately covers the wound and surrounding area.

Remove the protective release film and apply the Safetac® side directly to the wound. Remove the remaining release films and gently smooth the adhesive border onto the surrounding skin.

Do not stretch the dressing during application.

The dressing can remain in place for several days and may be worn for up to 7 days, depending on the condition of the wound, level of exudate and clinical requirements. Change the dressing if it becomes saturated, leaks, loses adhesion or when clinically indicated.

Important information:

  • For external wound-care use only
  • For single use only
  • Do not reuse the dressing, as this may increase the risk of infection or impair product performance
  • Do not use if you are allergic or hypersensitive to the dressing or any of its materials
  • Do not use if the sterile barrier is damaged or opened before use
  • Monitor the wound regularly for signs of infection
  • If there are signs of clinical infection, consult an appropriate healthcare professional for assessment and treatment
  • Mepilex Border Flex does not replace appropriate treatment of an infected wound
  • Dressing-change frequency should be determined by the wound condition and level of exudate
  • Seek professional wound-care advice for deep, heavily exuding, deteriorating or non-healing wounds
