ConvaTec Natura® Two-Piece Stomahesive® Baseplates are cut-to-fit ostomy skin barriers designed for use with compatible Natura® two-piece pouches.

The Natura® system uses a secure mechanical coupling ring, allowing the pouch and baseplate to snap together. An audible click helps confirm that the pouch is securely connected.

Stomahesive® Technology is designed to provide secure adhesion while helping protect the skin around the stoma from contact with irritating output. ConvaTec particularly recommends Stomahesive® baseplates where stoma output is semi-formed to formed.

A range of coupling sizes and collar configurations is available, allowing the baseplate to be selected according to the individual stoma size and the compatible Natura® pouch.

Choosing the correct variant:

There are two important measurements to consider.

1. Stoma opening

The cut-to-fit range determines the size of stoma that the adhesive opening can accommodate:

  • 13–19mm – 32mm coupling

  • 13–25mm – 38mm coupling

  • 13–32mm – 45mm coupling

  • 13–45mm – 57mm coupling

  • 13–57mm – 70mm coupling

The baseplate opening should be cut to fit closely around the stoma without constricting it.

2. Coupling size

The 32mm, 38mm, 45mm, 57mm or 70mm measurement refers to the mechanical connection between the pouch and baseplate.

It is not the stoma diameter.

The selected Natura® pouch must have exactly the same coupling size as the baseplate.

For example:

  • 32mm baseplate → requires a 32mm Natura® pouch

  • 45mm baseplate → requires a 45mm Natura® pouch

  • 57mm baseplate → requires a 57mm Natura® pouch

Directions:

Measure the stoma carefully using an appropriate stoma measuring guide.

Mark the required opening on the Stomahesive® skin barrier.

Cut the opening carefully so that it fits closely around the stoma without touching or constricting it.

Clean the surrounding skin according to the normal stoma-care routine and ensure that it is appropriately dry.

Remove the protective backing from the baseplate.

Centre the prepared opening over the stoma.

Apply the baseplate smoothly to the skin and press gently around the adhesive area to establish secure contact.

Select a compatible Natura® pouch with the same coupling diameter.

Align the pouch coupling ring with the baseplate and press around the circumference until the two components are securely connected.

The audible clicks produced during connection help confirm that the coupling is engaging.

Check around the complete coupling before use to ensure that the pouch is securely attached.
