How to use:
Insert the prescribed Novo Nordisk Penfill 3ml insulin cartridge into the pen according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Attach a new compatible needle before each injection. Always perform an insulin flow check before injecting.
Select the prescribed dose using the dose selector. NovoPen 6 allows doses from 1–60 units to be selected in 1-unit increments.
Insert the needle using the injection technique shown by your doctor, diabetes nurse or pharmacist. Press the dose button fully until the dose counter returns to zero and keep the needle under the skin for the time specified in the user instructions.
Remove and safely dispose of the needle after each injection.
Important information:
NovoPen 6 does not contain insulin. A compatible Novo Nordisk Penfill 3ml insulin cartridge and disposable needle are required separately.
Only use the type of insulin prescribed for you. Always check the name and colour of the insulin cartridge before injecting.
Never share the pen, insulin cartridge or needles with another person. Always use a new needle for each injection to reduce the risk of blocked needles, contamination, infection and inaccurate dosing.
Do not rely solely on the electronic dose memory when deciding whether to inject insulin. If you are uncertain whether you have taken a dose, check your blood glucose and follow the advice provided by your diabetes healthcare team.
The internal battery cannot be replaced. When the battery reaches the end of its life, the pen can still mechanically deliver insulin, but the electronic dose-memory function will no longer operate.
Do not wash, soak or lubricate the pen. Clean the outside with a mild detergent on a damp cloth. Do not refrigerate or freeze the pen itself and do not store it with a needle attached.
NovoPen 6 should only be used after appropriate training from a doctor, diabetes nurse or other suitably qualified healthcare professional.
