Coloplast SenSura® 1-Piece Drainable Ileostomy Bags – Pre-Cut Soft Cover – Pack of 30 (Refs: 15762, 15783, 15784)
Coloplast SenSura® 1-Piece Drainable Ileostomy Bags are flat, one-piece drainable ostomy pouches designed for people with an ileostomy or other stoma producing liquid or semi-liquid output.
These pre-cut variants combine Coloplast's SenSura® double-layer adhesive with an integrated drainable pouch. The adhesive and pouch are permanently joined, so the complete appliance is removed and replaced when the pouch is changed.
The pouch incorporates an integrated filter system to help manage gas and odour, together with Coloplast's Hide-Away outlet, which allows the drainage outlet to be folded and concealed when not in use.
These three variants have pre-cut openings, making them suitable for users whose stoma size is established and matches one of the available diameters.

One-piece system
SenSura® is a one-piece ostomy appliance.
The pouch and adhesive baseplate are permanently joined together.
This means there is no separate coupling mechanism between the pouch and baseplate. When the appliance needs to be changed, the entire pouch and adhesive are removed together and a new appliance is applied.
A one-piece system can provide:
-
A relatively low-profile appliance
-
Fewer separate components
-
Straightforward application
-
Flexibility during normal body movement
Users who prefer to leave a baseplate attached while changing only the pouch may instead require an appropriate two-piece ostomy system.
Flat baseplate
References 15762, 15783 and 15784 are flat SenSura® appliances.
They do not incorporate convexity.
Flat appliances are generally suitable where the stoma protrudes sufficiently above the surrounding skin and the peristomal surface allows the adhesive to establish an effective seal.
Stomas that are:
-
Flush with the skin
-
Retracted
-
Situated within a deep fold
-
Located within a dip
-
Associated with recurrent leakage
may require assessment for a different appliance profile, including possible convexity.
A Stoma Care Nurse should advise where appliance fit is uncertain or leakage is persistent.
SenSura® double-layer adhesive
SenSura® incorporates a double-layer adhesive system designed to provide both secure attachment and skin protection.
The two functional layers have different roles.
The protection layer helps protect the surrounding skin from contact with stoma output.
The skin-care layer helps maintain the peristomal environment by absorbing excess moisture.
The adhesive is designed to remain flexible so that it can follow normal body movement while maintaining contact with the skin.
Integrated filter
The SenSura® drainable pouch incorporates an integrated filter system.
Gas produced by the bowel can accumulate within an ostomy pouch. Without effective filtration, this can cause the pouch to inflate or balloon.
The filter is designed to:
-
Allow gas to leave the pouch gradually
-
Help reduce pouch ballooning
-
Filter odour before gas is released
-
Help maintain a flatter pouch profile
-
Improve discretion during wear
The filter should not be deliberately punctured or modified.
Hide-Away outlet
The SenSura® drainable pouch incorporates Coloplast's Hide-Away outlet.
Because ileostomy output is generally liquid or semi-liquid, the pouch can be emptied several times without removing the entire appliance.
When not in use, the drainage outlet can be folded and concealed within the pouch covering, helping create a neater and more discreet profile.
The outlet is designed to provide:
-
Controlled emptying
-
Straightforward cleaning after drainage
-
Secure closure
-
Reduced bulk when folded away
Always ensure the outlet is completely closed after emptying.
Soft Cover
These variants incorporate an opaque Soft Cover.
The soft backing material provides a more comfortable surface between the pouch and the body than exposed plastic film.
It is designed to be:
-
Soft against the skin
-
Discreet beneath clothing
-
Strong
-
Water-repellent
-
Showerproof
The opaque covering also conceals the pouch contents during normal wear.
Midi or Maxi?
The three variants include two different pouch sizes.
15762 – Midi
The Midi pouch provides a more compact profile and is supplied with a 25mm pre-cut opening.
15783 and 15784 – Maxi
The Maxi pouch provides a larger collection capacity than the Midi format.
The two Maxi options differ by pre-cut opening:
-
15783 – 30mm
-
15784 – 35mm
Pouch size and stoma opening size are separate considerations. The required pouch capacity should be considered alongside the actual measured diameter of the stoma.
Pre-cut openings
Unlike a cut-to-fit appliance, these variants have an opening already manufactured to a fixed diameter.
Available sizes are:
-
25mm – Ref 15762
-
30mm – Ref 15783
-
35mm – Ref 15784
Pre-cut appliances can be particularly convenient for people whose stoma has reached a stable size because the opening does not need to be manually cut before every application.
However, the selected opening must correspond closely to the actual size of the stoma.
Choosing the correct size:
Measure the stoma using an appropriate stoma measuring guide.
Select the pre-cut opening that fits closely around the stoma without touching, constricting or pressing against it.
Choose:
-
15762 for a 25mm stoma where a Midi pouch is appropriate
-
15783 for a 30mm stoma where a Maxi pouch is appropriate
-
15784 for a 35mm stoma where a Maxi pouch is appropriate
A pre-cut pouch should not be selected merely because its opening is approximately the correct size.
If the stoma falls between available pre-cut diameters or changes size, a cut-to-fit SenSura® appliance may be more appropriate.
An opening that is too large can expose peristomal skin to ileostomy output, which can cause irritation and contribute to leakage.
An opening that is too small can contact or constrict the stoma.
Directions:
Measure the stoma before selecting the appliance, particularly if its size has recently changed.
Check that the selected pre-cut opening corresponds appropriately to the stoma.
Wash your hands.
Gently remove the existing appliance according to the normal stoma-care routine.
Clean the skin around the stoma as advised by your Stoma Care Nurse.
Ensure the surrounding skin is appropriately clean and dry.
Check that the Hide-Away outlet is completely closed.
Remove the protective backing from the adhesive.
Centre the pre-cut opening carefully over the stoma.
Apply the adhesive around the stoma and press gently but firmly against the skin.
Smooth the adhesive outward to establish complete contact.
Check around the entire adhesive area for:
-
Folds
-
Gaps
-
Creases
-
Areas where the adhesive has not contacted the skin
Hold the adhesive gently against the body for a short period to help establish a secure seal.
Emptying the pouch:
Drain the pouch before it becomes excessively full.
A drainable ileostomy pouch should generally be emptied regularly because excessive contents increase the weight placed on the adhesive.
Sit or stand appropriately over a toilet or suitable receptacle.
Release the Hide-Away outlet from its folded position.
Open the outlet according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Direct the outlet into the toilet.
Allow the pouch contents to drain.
Clean the end of the outlet as required.
Close the outlet securely.
Fold the outlet back into its Hide-Away position.
Check that it is securely stored before repositioning clothing.
Changing the pouch:
The frequency of appliance changes varies between individuals and depends on factors including:
-
Stoma output
-
Skin condition
-
Adhesive performance
-
Activity
-
Perspiration
-
Individual stoma characteristics
The appliance should be changed if the seal begins to fail or leakage occurs.
Do not repeatedly reinforce a failing seal instead of changing the appliance where output is beginning to reach the surrounding skin.
Important information:
-
For ileostomy and appropriate drainable stoma use
-
One-piece appliance
-
Pouch and adhesive baseplate are integrated
-
Flat baseplate
-
No integral convexity
-
Pre-cut openings only on these variants

-
Persistent leakage should prompt reassessment of appliance size and fit
-
A changing stoma size may require a different pre-cut size or a cut-to-fit appliance
-
Convexity should only be selected following appropriate assessment
-
Seek advice from a Stoma Care Nurse for recurrent leakage, persistent skin irritation, poor appliance fit or changes in stoma shape
-
Seek urgent clinical advice for significant changes in stoma colour, severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, marked swelling or unexpected cessation of ileostomy output accompanied by symptoms of obstruction
-

-
Located within a dip

may require assessment for a different appliance profile, including possible convexity.

-

Perspiration
-
Individual stoma characteristics
The appliance should be changed if the seal begins to fail or leakage occurs.
