Coloplast SenSura® Mio Concave 1-Piece Urostomy Pouches – Maxi – Pack of 10
Coloplast SenSura® Mio Concave 1-Piece Urostomy Pouches are one-piece urinary stoma appliances specifically designed for continuous urine collection in people with an outward body profile around the stoma, such as a curve, bulge or parastomal hernia.
Unlike a conventional flat or convex appliance, SenSura® Mio Concave features a distinctive curved, star-shaped adhesive baseplate designed to fit over rounded and outward-projecting abdominal contours. The individual adhesive petals hug the curved area while helping reduce unwanted creasing and folding.
A built-in stability ring supports the central area immediately around the stoma, while flexible fit zones and Coloplast's BodyFit Technology® elastic adhesive allow the surrounding baseplate to adapt as the body moves.
The pouch and Concave adhesive baseplate are permanently integrated, creating a complete one-piece urostomy appliance. The urinary pouch can be emptied repeatedly throughout the day and can be connected to an appropriate overnight drainage system when required.

What is SenSura® Mio Concave?
SenSura® Mio Concave is designed specifically for an outward body profile around the stoma.
When the abdomen projects outward around the stoma, applying a conventional flat baseplate can be difficult.
A flat adhesive may:
-
Crease
-
Fold
-
Bridge across curved areas
-
Lift around the edges
-
Fail to maintain consistent contact with the skin
SenSura® Mio Concave is shaped differently.
Its curved baseplate is designed to fit over and around the outward profile, allowing the adhesive to follow the contour rather than trying to flatten it.
Typical outward profiles include:
-
Rounded abdominal areas
-
Bulges
-
Parastomal hernias
-
Prominent curves
-
Areas where the abdomen projects outward around the stoma
Concave is not Convex
Concave and convex products address very different body profiles.
Concave
Designed primarily for an outward profile:
-
Bulges
-
Curves
-
Parastomal hernias
-
Rounded abdominal areas
The appliance is shaped to wrap around the outward-projecting area.
Convex
Designed primarily for a stoma or body profile requiring pressure towards the body, for example:
-
Flush stomas
-
Retracted stomas
-
Inward dips
-
Deep creases
SenSura® Mio Concave should therefore not be regarded as another level of convexity.
The appropriate appliance should be selected according to both the stoma and the surrounding abdominal profile.
Star-shaped baseplate
The distinctive star-shaped baseplate is one of the principal features of SenSura® Mio Concave.
The outer adhesive is divided into petal-like sections.
These petals are designed to:
-
Wrap around the outward abdominal curve
-
Follow individual body contours
-
Help reduce creasing
-
Help reduce folding
-
Limit bridging of the adhesive over the skin
-
Maintain closer adhesive contact
This design can be particularly useful where a conventional baseplate struggles to conform over a rounded or herniated area.
Stability ring
A built-in stability ring surrounds the central fitting area.
The stability ring helps:
-
Stabilise the centre of the baseplate
-
Support the area immediately around the stoma
-
Provide a defined area for fitting
-
Guide where pressure should be applied during application
The design therefore combines central stability with flexible outer adaptation.
This is important for outward body profiles, where the appliance needs to remain secure around the stoma while adapting to a curved abdominal surface.
Flexible fit zones
SenSura® Mio Concave incorporates flexible fit zones around the centre and outer rim of the baseplate.
These allow the appliance to adapt as the shape of the abdomen changes during normal movement.
An outward profile or parastomal hernia may change shape when a person:
-
Stands
-
Sits
-
Bends
-
Walks
-
Lies down
-
Twists
-
Changes posture
The flexible zones are designed to help the baseplate maintain contact during these movements.
BodyFit Technology®
SenSura® Mio incorporates Coloplast's BodyFit Technology® elastic adhesive.
The adhesive is designed to stretch and move with the body while maintaining secure contact with the skin.
This allows the appliance to adapt during:
-
Walking
-
Sitting
-
Bending
-
Stretching
-
Twisting
-
Changes in posture
-
Everyday abdominal movement
Maintaining close contact around the urinary stoma is important because gaps underneath the adhesive can allow urine to reach the peristomal skin and contribute to leakage or irritation.
One-piece appliance
SenSura® Mio Concave urostomy is a one-piece system.
The urinary pouch and Concave adhesive baseplate are permanently joined.
There is:
-
No separate pouch
-
No detachable baseplate
-
No mechanical coupling ring
When the appliance requires replacing, the complete pouch and adhesive baseplate are removed together and a new complete appliance is applied.
This provides a relatively low-profile system compared with a mechanically coupled two-piece appliance.
Urostomy pouch
A urostomy continuously produces urine.
The pouch is therefore designed to collect urine continuously and allow it to be emptied repeatedly without removing the appliance.
Regular emptying helps:
-
Reduce weight pulling on the adhesive
-
Reduce tension across the curved baseplate
-
Improve comfort
-
Maintain a discreet pouch profile
-
Reduce unnecessary stress on the appliance seal
The pouch should be emptied before it becomes excessively full or heavy.
Urine management
SenSura® Mio urostomy pouches are designed to manage continuous urinary output and reduce unnecessary movement and backflow of collected urine within the pouch.
The urinary pouch incorporates internal urine-management features intended to help keep collected urine away from the stoma while allowing effective drainage through the outlet.
This does not remove the need to:
-
Empty the pouch regularly
-
Ensure the drainage outlet is properly closed
-
Check the appliance for leakage
-
Position overnight drainage correctly when used
Twist Tap outlet
The current SenSura® Mio urostomy range incorporates Coloplast's Twist Tap outlet.
The Twist Tap is designed to:
-
Provide secure closure
-
Allow straightforward repeated emptying
-
Help reduce residual urine dripping after emptying
-
Reduce the risk of unintended opening
-
Provide a more hygienic emptying experience
When emptying:
-
Position the tap over a toilet or suitable receptacle
-
Open the Twist Tap according to the manufacturer's instructions
-
Allow urine to drain completely
-
Avoid allowing the outlet to contact the toilet or receptacle
-
Wipe the outlet if required
-
Close the tap securely
Always check that the outlet is fully closed before repositioning clothing.
Overnight drainage
SenSura® Mio Concave urostomy pouches can be connected to an appropriate overnight urine drainage system.
A larger night drainage bag provides additional urine collection capacity during sleep and can reduce the need to wake repeatedly to empty the pouch.
When connecting overnight drainage:
-
Use the correct compatible connector or adaptor
-
Ensure all connections are secure
-
Position the night drainage bag below the level of the urostomy pouch
-
Keep tubing free from kinks
-
Avoid trapping tubing beneath the body or bedding
-
Ensure the tubing does not pull on the pouch
-
Check that urine can flow freely into the drainage bag
Always follow the manufacturer's instructions supplied with both products.
Neutral Grey textile cover
References 18400–18404 are Neutral Grey variants.
The SenSura® Mio textile woven covering is designed to look and feel more like clothing fabric than conventional medical pouch material.
It is:
-
Soft against the body
-
Comfortable
-
Discreet beneath clothing
-
Water-repellent
-
Showerproof
The Neutral Grey colour is designed to remain discreet beneath a wide range of clothing colours, including lighter clothing.
Transparent option
Reference 18405 is the Maxi Transparent variant.
The transparent pouch allows direct visibility of:
-
The urinary stoma
-
Urine entering the pouch
-
Urine colour
-
Pouch contents
-
Appliance positioning
This may be useful:
-
Following surgery
-
When monitoring the stoma
-
When monitoring urine
-
During appliance assessment
-
Where a carer assists with stoma management
-
Where continuous visibility is preferred
Midi or Maxi?
The current UK SenSura® Mio Concave urostomy range does not include a Mini option.
Midi
Reference 18400 provides:
-
Midi pouch capacity
-
Neutral Grey covering
-
10–40mm cut-to-fit opening
Midi provides a more compact profile where the smaller capacity suits the user's urine output and emptying routine.
Maxi
Maxi provides greater urine collection capacity.
Available Maxi variants include:
-
18401 – Neutral Grey, 10–40mm cut-to-fit
-
18402 – Neutral Grey, pre-cut 20mm
-
18403 – Neutral Grey, pre-cut 25mm
-
18404 – Neutral Grey, pre-cut 30mm
-
18405 – Transparent, 10–40mm cut-to-fit
Maxi may be preferred where:
-
Greater daytime capacity is required
-
Urine output is higher
-
Less frequent emptying is preferred
-
A pre-cut opening is preferred
Cut-to-fit options
References 18400, 18401 and 18405 have a 10–40mm starter-hole / cut-to-fit opening.
Cut-to-fit appliances may be appropriate where:
-
The stoma does not match a standard pre-cut size
-
The stoma is irregularly shaped
-
Stoma dimensions are changing
-
A more individually shaped opening is required
Do not cut beyond the manufacturer's stated 40mm maximum opening.
Pre-cut options
Maxi Neutral Grey is also available with fixed pre-cut openings:
-
18402 – 20mm
-
18403 – 25mm
-
18404 – 30mm
Pre-cut appliances may provide greater convenience where the stoma has reached a stable size and corresponds closely to one of these openings.
Choosing the correct opening
Measure the urinary stoma carefully using an appropriate measuring guide.
The finished opening should:
-
Fit closely around the stoma
-
Avoid rubbing against it
-
Avoid constricting it
-
Minimise exposed peristomal skin
-
Follow the actual stoma shape where necessary
An opening that is too large may expose surrounding skin to urine and increase the risk of leakage and irritation.
An opening that is too small may rub against or constrict the stoma.
Body profile is as important as stoma diameter
Selecting the correct opening size alone does not guarantee an appropriate appliance fit.
SenSura® Mio Concave is specifically intended for an outward body profile.
Selection should therefore also consider:
-
Shape of the abdomen
-
Presence of a bulge
-
Presence of a parastomal hernia
-
Size and shape of the outward curve
-
Position of the stoma on the curve
-
Changes in abdominal shape when sitting or standing
-
Previous leakage
-
Peristomal skin condition
Where possible, the body profile should be assessed in different positions because the shape of a bulge or parastomal hernia can change significantly with posture.
Applying SenSura® Mio Concave:
Wash and dry your hands.
Measure the stoma if required.
Select the appropriate Midi or Maxi pouch and opening.
Prepare the opening according to the manufacturer's cutting guide if using a cut-to-fit appliance.
Ensure the urinary drainage tap is securely closed.
Gently remove the existing appliance while supporting the surrounding skin.
Clean the peristomal area according to the normal stoma-care routine.
Ensure the skin is appropriately clean and dry.
Remove the protective backing from the adhesive.
Position the appliance carefully over the stoma.
Apply pressure around the stability ring to establish secure contact immediately around the stoma.
Smooth the star-shaped adhesive petals outward over the curved abdominal profile.
Ensure that each section follows the body contour.
Check for:
-
Gaps
-
Folds
-
Creases
-
Lifted adhesive
-
Areas where the baseplate bridges across rather than contacts the skin
Apply gentle hand pressure to help establish a secure seal.
Always follow Coloplast's specific application instructions supplied with the appliance.
Emptying the pouch:
Empty the pouch regularly and before it becomes excessively full or heavy.
Position the urinary outlet over a toilet or suitable receptacle.
Open the tap according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Allow urine to drain completely.
Avoid allowing the outlet to touch the toilet or receptacle.
Wipe the outlet if required.
Close it securely.
Check that the tap is fully closed before repositioning clothing.
Changing the appliance:
Because this is a one-piece appliance, the complete pouch and Concave adhesive baseplate are removed together.
Wash and dry your hands.
Gently lift one edge of the adhesive.
Support the surrounding skin while slowly peeling the appliance away.
Avoid rapidly pulling the adhesive from the skin.
Dispose of the used appliance appropriately.
Clean and inspect the peristomal skin before applying the replacement appliance.
Parastomal hernias and bulges
SenSura® Mio Concave is specifically designed to fit outward profiles, including those associated with parastomal hernias.
However, the appliance does not treat the underlying hernia.
Changes in:
-
Hernia size
-
Abdominal shape
-
Stoma size
-
Stoma function
-
Appliance fit
-
Frequency of leakage
may require reassessment of the pouch and baseplate fit.
A rapidly enlarging bulge, severe pain, vomiting, significant stoma colour changes or other concerning symptoms require appropriate clinical assessment.

-
Concave is designed primarily for outward rather than inward body profiles
-
Measure the stoma carefully before selecting or preparing the opening
-
Do not cut outside the manufacturer's stated range
-
The opening should fit closely without constricting the stoma
-
Empty the pouch regularly before it becomes excessively full or heavy
-
Ensure the drainage outlet is completely closed after emptying
-
Check regularly for signs of leakage
-
Check the surrounding skin for redness, soreness, maceration or breakdown
-
Check the adhesive petals for lifting, folding or incomplete contact
-
Persistent leakage may indicate that the opening size or body-profile fit requires reassessment
-
Changes in a parastomal hernia or abdominal bulge may affect appliance fit
-
Seek advice from a Stoma Care Nurse for recurrent leakage, persistent skin irritation, changes in body profile or uncertainty regarding appliance selection
-
Cloudy or unusually foul-smelling urine, fever, flank pain or other symptoms suggesting urinary infection require appropriate clinical assessment
-
Significant changes in stoma colour or appearance should also be assessed appropriately
-
Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for use

Coloplast SenSura® Mio Concave 1-Piece Urostomy Pouches combine a curved star-shaped baseplate, stability ring, flexible fit zones and BodyFit Technology® with a drainable urinary pouch specifically designed for outward abdominal profiles.
The UK range provides a choice of Midi or Maxi capacity, Neutral Grey or Transparent pouch, 10–40mm cut-to-fit openings and 20mm, 25mm or 30mm pre-cut Maxi options.
SenSura® Mio Concave should be selected according to both the measured urinary stoma and the surrounding abdominal profile. It is designed specifically for outward curves, bulges and parastomal hernias rather than inward profiles requiring convex support.
Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for use. Persistent leakage, peristomal skin irritation, drainage difficulties or changes in a bulge or parastomal hernia should be discussed with a Stoma Care Nurse.
