Glyceryl Trinitrate (GTN) 400 micrograms/dose Sublingual Spray is a fast-acting nitrate medicine used to relieve acute angina attacks and to help prevent angina before activities or situations known to trigger symptoms. Each metered spray delivers 400 micrograms of glyceryl trinitrate.

Key features:

  • Provides rapid relief from angina pain
  • Contains glyceryl trinitrate (GTN)
  • Delivers 400 micrograms GTN per metered spray
  • Administered under the tongue for rapid absorption
  • Used at the onset of an angina attack
  • Can also be used before activities known to trigger angina
  • Metered-dose aerosol spray
  • Contains 180 doses per canister

Active ingredient:

Each metered spray contains:

  • Glyceryl Trinitrate: 400 micrograms

Other ingredients:

Ethanol and Propylene Glycol.

How to use:
If possible, sit down before using the spray.

At the onset of an angina attack:

  • Spray 1 or 2 metered doses under the tongue.
  • Hold your breath while spraying and do not inhale the spray.
  • Close your mouth immediately after each spray.
  • If symptoms do not resolve, treatment may be repeated at 5-minute intervals, up to a total of 3 sprays.
  • If symptoms have not resolved after a total of 3 sprays, seek prompt medical attention.

For prevention of angina caused by exercise or another known trigger, use 1 or 2 sprays under the tongue immediately before the activity, as directed.

Hold the canister upright during use. There is no need to shake it. The pump may need to be primed into the air before first use or if it has not been used for some time.

Important information:
Do not use glyceryl trinitrate with medicines for erectile dysfunction such as sildenafil, tadalafil or vardenafil. Combining these medicines with nitrates can cause a severe and potentially dangerous fall in blood pressure.

Do not use if you have severe low blood pressure, severe anaemia or certain serious heart or circulatory conditions unless specifically advised by a healthcare professional.

GTN can cause headache, dizziness, weakness or a fall in blood pressure. Sitting down when using the spray can help reduce the risk of fainting.

The spray is flammable. Keep away from naked flames, hot surfaces and anyone who is smoking. Do not pierce or burn the canister, even when empty. Store below 25°C.

Not recommended for children.
