UroFlush G is intended for routine management of catheter encrustation. For significant or severe encrustation, the manufacturer has a stronger UroFlush R 6% citric acid preparation; the appropriate solution should be determined clinically.

Directions:

Use only according to a doctor's prescription, catheter-management protocol or instructions from an appropriate healthcare professional.

The manufacturer's instructions state that UroFlush G is generally used at least two or three times per week depending on clinical need, with an effective contact time of approximately 15–20 minutes. The solution must never be forced into the bladder.

1. Clean or disinfect hands before use, or wear appropriate gloves.
2. Open the outer packaging and remove the UroFlush bag.
3. Close the tubing using the plastic clamp.
4. Remove the protective sleeve from the connector as instructed.
5. Connect the UroFlush bag to the urinary catheter.
6. Open the clamp and administer according to the prescribed irrigation protocol.
7. Allow the solution the required contact time according to the care plan.
8. Do not force the solution into the bladder.
9. Remove the UroFlush bag after use and reconnect the urine drainage bag or catheter valve as appropriate.

The manufacturer advises that the solution should not be used cold. Warm the unopened bag in lukewarm water if necessary; do not microwave it. Check the temperature against the inner wrist before use.

• Monitor the patient's condition during irrigation
• The device contains DEHP; the manufacturer's IFU advises limiting prolonged exposure in certain vulnerable patient groups
